^Why 4th brother? The most queried question among Steven newbie fans. And the most cited reason given is because Steven is 4th in his family, hence 4th Brother. This nickname caught on especially after Safe Guards being that his Sheung Zhi is the 4th boss. But there is a story behind how this nickname first originated with his Steven Ma's Warm House fans, what most recent Steven fans don't know unless they read the back posts, which I did and have in fact translated and posted it here because I thought it was really interesting. Steven, from his occasional browsing of his fansites knew of his fans' endearment for him but never let on to his fans that he knew until one day he transferred a fan written article posted on baidu onto his own yahoo blog and signed off that yahoo blog entry as '4th Brother', effectively telling his fans that he does indeed read his baidu fansite. I don’t know if Steven himself even knows of the real meaning behind that endearment of '4th brother' to those who originated the nickname.

Below is a snatch of dialogue between the Steven's Warm House's webmistress and a member there.
I: How did his pet name sei goh come about?
SY: Simple, doesn't he have 3 older sisters? He’s # 4 so sei goh lah! (Thank goodness HK has no one child policy)
I: But I know this pet name has another meaning – it imparts a warm feeling(亲切)when addressing him as such, right?
SY: very warm feeling. At least it’s also more restrain than calling him ‘baby /darling /treasure /boubiu. 宝贝.
I: Also there’s a 3rd meaning too. In the olden days, lovers addressed each other as goh ya, miu ya, hing ya .
SY: Yong Goh even addresses Xiu Long Nui as Gugu. Goh goh ya, mui mui ya etc aren't they the same?
I: Right, so this pet name shows his importance in your heart.
SY: en, I respect him!!!
I: And? Admire him? Adore him wholeheartedly?
SY: respect, 尊敬; adore/admire, 爱慕; feel a tenderness/compassion towards him 怜惜. You paparazzi you. 你这个狗仔队的。
