Steven Ma having dinner with co-stars to watch SIAC finale

《守業者》收35點 馬浚偉貼半裸照
The night before (Sunday) SIAC 《守業者》aired its 2 hour finale. Cast members including Steven Ma, Matt Yeung, Helen Ma Elliot Ngok, Katy Kung, Producer Leung,  etc  had a get together dinner to watch the finale.  It just happened that HK  was under a black rainstorm high alert on that day.  SIAC finale garnered an average rating of 32 points and peaked at 35 points (Note: the peak rating of 35 was wrongly reported, the actual siac peak rating was 36 points). To celebrate its high rating Steven yesterday  uploaded for the first time on his weibo a topless pix of himself to reveal the muscles he has developed from his assiduous workouts.

Notes:
Daddy Good Deeds despite impressive ratings is underrated - no pun intended.

Tiger Cubs, Bottled Passion,  Daddy Good Deeds, The Greatness of a Hero, Wish and Switch, Let it be love,  When Heaven burns, L'Escargot are aired in unfavorable timeslots.

Witness Insecurity's rating is adversely affected by a power outage during its broadcast.

3 Kingdoms' rating is favorably increased to peak at 45 pts due to a typhoon keeping people home.

DGD  & The Greatness of a Hero (TGOAH) are aired during the week of Ching Ming and Easter 6-day holidays. (Wednesday onto next Monday)

The Greatness of a Hero is an old overseas release now now premiering in HK.

TN: 4th week's avg rating of 31 points emphasizes just how inordinately low the finale episode was at 31 points. So unexpected that the finale garnered such a lower rating than anticipated when the ratings had been increasing throughout after Easter holidays. I bet the rating for the finale would have been much higher if the last two episodes were focused on the love triangle of Fatt Dat gor, Yu Chu and Ah Yap rather than having that twist of Man Shuk being sued. But then, MSC wanted her last TVB series to be a tribute on her father, thus the emphasis on Man Shuk and family unity to wrap up the whole series.

Steven's viewership draw is so strong in China IPTV  that 3 of his series topped the 4 weeks' ranking, from Apr 22 -May 19.  Incidentally, all the top series are tvb series. Congratulations to Steven.  He is a rating puller in Hong Kong and China.

May 13 - May 19 Steps
Huh? Fala is featured instead of Bernice, who is the first female lead.

May 6 - May 12 Gun Metal Gray

April 29 - May 5   A Watchdog's Tale
Wonder why Raymond Wong is featured instead of Linda Chung?

weibo 5/16 AP's rating

5/16 10:58 Correction: The new Apprentice Chef premiering May 28 will air at 9:30 pm not 8:30 pm. Heehee!  And the first episode special guest is Yeung Mie (Tavia).  Everybody, don't forget to support! P.S. The rating for Apprentice Chef special edition was 20 points, up by 4 points to last week's.  A good start, truly very happy!  On the aside, hope the commercial shoot for Carmankwan's Hing Sang Hong Company @衍生行  will go smoothly.

TN: I'm confused.  On tvb.com Apprentice Chef's showtime is @ 8:30pm.  Can it be that only the 1st episode with Tavia is at 9:30 pm while the rest is at 8:30 pm?

A Watchdog's Tale ranks 2nd in pps download

A phenomenon -- AWT's a hit in pps HK and Taiwan series ranking 2nd beating out currently airing Grace under Fire and other more recent tv series.

7 Days: ratings

Btw, the avg rating for 7DIL finale was 30 points peaked at 35 points.  Rippling Blossom' average rating was also 30 points peaked at 32 (some said 33) but "the cast held a celebratory dinner last night to celebrate it good rating".  (re: AF headline section) Wonder if their celebratory was given by TVB or not, when I read the "Rippling" news I thought for sure 7DIL's rating must be really bad since nothing was mentioned about it, not even by the cast on their weibo.  I'm disappointed with 7DIL's ratings, thought it might be higher. Its first week had a peak of 36 pts while the final week only peaked at 35 points, but at least it broke the 30 points mark.

1st episode average rating was 32 points peaked at 35 points.
1st week 28 points peaked 36
2nd week 24 points
3rd week 27 points peaked 30
4th week 30 points peaked 35

~A-vIl Gt!

Last week, TVB's prime time ratings were affected by the NY holidays especially on NY's eve when  ratings became a disastrous zone.  The series, Home Troopers, led by Ah Jie (Liza Wang), Kevin Cheng and Ha Yu, garnered an average rating of only 26 points, heavily dragged down by its NY's eve rating of 22.5 point.   And the average rating for Links to Temptation fell one point to 27 points, with a rating of 23 points on  NY's eve.  Hopefully, after the holidays, the ratings will increase.

TN:This timeslot plus the CNY timeslot are the most unfavorable of all for the year.  And Steven's series are being slotted in both.  If LTT's ratings are dismal, and 7 Days' ratings will probably fare the same.  The ratings for A Watchdog's Tale can be considered 'miraculous' for its timeslot in recent years.

Steven was the narrator for a documentary program, “Since 1967” 《由1967开始》. This program was previously aired on Mondays at 7 pm. Usually, the ratings for this kind of programs never get passed 20 points but the average ratings for that program was around 23 points. Even Kara Hui praised Steven highly for his pleasing voice. “Initially, I wasn’t aware that it was his voice. It was so pleasant to listen; moreover, it was also able to engage the audience’s emotion. news excerpt
