2014 HK Badminton's First Rally Song

HK August 18 2014:  Hong Kong debuted its first badminton pep rally song《勝在一­念》at the launching ceremony of the "2014-2017 Bank of China (BOC) Hong Kong Badminton Development and Training Programme" cum the "2014 BOC Hong Kong Badminton Championship finals and awards presentation" held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. The song is composed and produced by Chiu Tsang Hei (趙增熹), written by Chris Shum (岑偉宗) and sung by Steven Ma to rally the spirit of their Hong Kong athletes for "victory is but a conviction away". 《勝在一­念》

At the ceremony the badminton committee also appointed a new batch of professional public figures with a healthy image as the ambassadors for HK badminton including:  Chiu Tsang Hei, Steven Ma, 郭偉亮 and 林曉峰 as well as some HK badminton team members including: 葉姵延、周凱華、伍家朗 and 李晉熙.  To start off the championships the ambassadors immediately played doubles against each other in a exhibition game to promote the fun of playing badminton.

Note: Steven has been HK Badminton ambassador for the longest time, can't remember when.

Steven Ma to Debut as Movie Director

Yesterday, as the event ambassadors, Steven Ma and Kandy Wong (Tong Mui) attended the  "Safe Driving and Health Campaign for Commercial Vehicle Drivers" 「至fit安全駕駛大行動」. Steven,  a honorary HK Safety Patrol Ambassador, expressed that though he is a careful driver, he has two experiences of being fined and points taken off for speeding, both times because he was too tired after filming and was too eager to get home. In the future he will be more cautious as he does not want to affect other people's lives.

Recently Steven has been busy preparing his 2nd music album this year, and also formulating his future development plans in mainland. He says once his "China TaoYuan Steven Ma Work Studio" (中國桃園馬浚偉工作室後) is established, the owner agreed to grant him an annual investment of 30 million yuan to film a movie and to act in two tv series.

He has already finished writing a  modern drama movie script. When asked if his newly established studio will sign up Fala Chen, Steven says: "Would like to! If it happens it will be in the latter half of next year. I've spoken of it once to Fala. Her reaction was: "Ah Goh, whatever you say!『阿哥，你話點就點！』" (Per her response, chances are high?)

Steven laughs: "If I ask, she dares say no? We are very close.  We'll have fun working together. Fala, Tavia and Linda are my 'sisters'.  If all three sisters can film together that would be even better.  This would be my debut as a director, so would like to have friends' support. This way, I'll have more confidence."   (TVB will release them?)  "My relationship with TVB is ok gei!"

video: Steven says that he will never drink and drive. As ambassador of this cause, it would be terribly embarrassing and a loss of face for him, not to mention hypocritical, if he was caught driving under the influence.

Artiste Steven Ma attended a safety patrol event today. It is said that TVB executive Catherine Tsang is persuading Steven to return to film a series in May.  Steven admitted that the two of them have been talking but at this time he has not decided yet. "Zan Jie (Catherine Tsang) is my 'sifu' (master). My first choice would be to talk with 'sifu'.  But have not talked about the contract details.  Hopefully will do that before Chinese New Year."  (Will return?)  "I've many options.  Hong Kong or mainland, there are people wanting me to film series."  When asked under what conditions will he return, he said: "I'm not pursuing money, most important are the script and partner. (Who would make you want to return?) "Would also like to work with Fala Chen or Tavia"

TN: "also" meaning Steven must have mentioned other actresses besides Fala and Tavia.  Reporter put words in Steven's mouth, in a much later separate tv interview Steven clarified that he did not especially pick Tavia or any of his sisters for that matter as his return tv series female lead. 

So boring to always see Steven partnering his 3 sisters. Can we have some new partnerships with other big fadans, please, pretty please?  But then, TVB has no more big fadans left.  Just can't get myself excited by this news of Steven returning to TVB. Probably just the same old same old TVB series with Uncle Choi and one of his sisters.  Haiz! I'm more excited to watch his performance in LOTYEF.

The 2012 Olympics Chinese gold medalist delegation is in Hong Kong for a 3-day goodwill visit from August 24th thru August 26th. Yesterday (8/25) the badminton and the table tennis gold medalists did an exhibition show in the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai. Steven Ma (Ma Jai), a badminton enthusiast who is also Hong Kong Badminton Ambassador, partnered with Hong Kong badminton player, 'Hak Miu' (Yip Pui-Yin) played against the gold medal badminton duo, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei, in a mixed doubles friendly match. But the resounding cheers in the stadium for Steven were no less than those for the gold medalists, even the MCs incessantly cheered him on. Steven expensing all effort in kill shots finally broke zero, in the end he and Yip Pui Yin lost to the other team 2 to 7.

HONG KONG: China's Olympic gold medallists are in Hong Kong for a three-day goodwill visit. A 70-strong delegation of Chinese athletes, including Olympic gold-medal winners from London, got a warm welcome from the people of Hong Kong on Friday. The delegation's itinerary includes public demonstrations in badminton, table tennis, diving as well as a gala event on Saturday.  During their visit, the athletes will also participate in various sports demonstrations and a variety show.

Loudly cheered on by the crowd, Steven Ma broke zero scoring, finally losing to opponents 2-7.

Earlier on, (tn: around June this year) Steven Ma, attired in a prince charming look, performed in a concert for two successive nights.  His appearance on stage immediately caused an uproar in the audience below. Regardless male or female, young or old, they all flocked excited towards the stage, and all lifted up their cellphones and ipads to take pictures.  Among them most amusingly one mother even held up her months old BB to attract Steven's attention.  It turned out to be quite an effective ploy as during a break in his song, Steven greeted the audience and with his love for children he played with the BB.  And the friend of the BB's mother immediately snapped a picture of them.

On that night, Steven also sang a duet with Teresa Cheung Dak Lan, whom he has long admired. Their duet created the other high in the concert. After his performance Steven revealed he had liked Teresa jeh for many years now.

"In the past I was a ROTCH fan, Andy Lau and Idy Chan series.  This song 《情义两心坚》was the sub themesong in the series.  Its themesong《何日再相见》was also sung by Dak Lan jeh. So from that time onwards started to like her.


"Recall two years ago when shooting 'Apprentice Chef', I invited her as my guest and so we got to know each other. Actually, I've had an opportunity to collaborate. Earlier on, she invited me as a guest performer in her concert but I wasn't in Hong Kong then. So now I'm very happy to be able to sing a duet with her.  I think she took good care of herself and also her voice still sounds good, truly admirable."

Steven hopes that in the future he will have an opportunity to hold his own concert.

Talk about yesterday news as in really way behind old news, this one above takes the cake.

Edited: Heavens! The event (re:SM weibo) was the June 9 2012 dinner performance was for the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Credit Union company dinner 香港警察储蓄互助社三十周年公司聚餐. The first song Steven sang was 《愛是不保留》. Steven is a HK Honorary Patrol Safety Ambassador.  For his next song he sang a duet with Teresa Cheung  (張德蘭). Why such a late report?  Why even bother reporting an event that is now more than a month's late?

Here's an old event that just now is being reported on the news. Steven and Teresa Cheung were guest stars in a June stage show event. (tn: even still unknown) They sang a duet 《情義兩心堅》, a sub theme song of The Return of the Condor Heroes. 神雕俠女 (Teresa Cheung is the original singer of that song.) She was also a guest in Steven's Apprentice Chef 1.

Recently, Steven Ma as the Caring Ambassador for HK Guide Dogs Association promotes guide dogs for the blind services. Steven since three years old has had raised four pet dogs consecutively. But since his last dog, Ben, ( it's Pomeranian 松鼠狗) died in 2002 (sic. 2001 per SM yahoo blog) he has stopped having a pet dog because he just does not have the time to care take of it.

Steven still misses Ben. He says: "I've had Ben for nine years. Its very sentient.  It usually slept outside elder my sister(s)' or my bedroom door but on the day it died it slept outside the bathroom door.  At the time I found it strange, when I came home after work my elder sister told me Ah Ben had died. It's death was so sudden I was depressed for a long time.

At first he thought of getting another golden haired Pomeranian but rethinking his hectic lifestyle decided not to. "Having a pet is a lifetime commitment, I don't to get one because of impulse, also I don't want my family members to take care of my pet.  Hopefully when I'm not so busy I'll be able to have a dog. It will be ideal if by that time I maybe able to move into a 3-storey detached house that has a garden and a rooftop patio. so will have enough space for the dog to move around.  .
