Steven Ma’s Peach Blossoms Series, 7 Days in Life, Welcomes the Lunar New Year.

Recently, Steven Ma has been dubbed by colleagues as a strong defensive “Blue Chip Stock” against rating slump.  Steven jests he has become Bank of China Wai (as in Ma Chun Wai) because every time come Christmas or Lunar New Year, when people are out and about on the streets or go on vacations,  TVB loves to use series starring him to pull in the audience.  Turns out that Leung Choi Yuen’s series, 7 Days in Life, starring both Steven and Sonija, has been confirmed to air on Jan 24th.

As to the series’ ratings maybe be affected by such timeslots during the festivals, Steven says he has adapted from being initially not understanding to accepting.*  “I’ve already internalized the time slot issue and have put it aside.”

Steven prefers to view the company airing his series back to back so that the audiences will see his acting diversity.   “He says: “Don't see the situation so negatively.  It’s because the company thinks highly of me, hence such arrangement.  If the audience supports me, they will tune in no matter what timeslot.  Why not you all watch how much I enjoyed my peach blossom luck, and be happy for me instead! Since  one can’t do anything to prevent it, one might as well sit back and enjoy it." ( 既來之則安之**)

“In “Links of Temptation”, I portrayed a barrister who is 100% faithful to his girlfriend. In “7 Days in Life”, for the first time ever, I portrayed a philanderer that steals hearts and gold; an ambivalent character wavering between evil and good; a role with much space for imagination improvisation.  Moreover, this is the first series that lets me enjoyed a peach blossoms luck.  In the series, all the female leads love me, and are jealous of each other over me.  I have bed scene(s) with Sonija, and Koni Lui seduced me making Sonija jealous.  Having grown this big, whether in real life or in series, I’ve yet to experience such good peach blossoms luck.”

When asked if he would enjoy such fate? He laughs and says: “If it’s peach blossom luck, then it’s good; if it’s peach blossom raid then, no thanks.  I’m a person who is quite discipline, won’t see one, love one.”

*More like “resigning” to the fact.
** 既來之則安之 = Since this is so, we should accept it. / If you can't do anything to prevent, you might as well sit back and enjoy it.
