As burglar, eluding pursuers by any means and ways are inevitable. So when burglar Steven Ma is surrounded by the police, like a cornered dog driven to jumping over the wall in times of desperation, he took to scaling a 7-story-high utility pole to escape.
Outwardly, on the surface, TVB seems to treat Steven rather well in having his series airs one after another. His 'Links to Temptation' has just finished broadcasting, and almost immediately, another one of his series, '7 Days in Life', will air soon after in the upcoming Lunar New Year timeslot. Actually, the fact of the matter is that his series are being used to fill up the cannon fodder timeslots.
Just like how last year (2010), his Ghost Writer was used to pit against World Cup. And now recently, Links to Temptation and his new series, 7 Days in Life, are once again being slotted in what is viewed as “cannon fodder” timeslots for Christmas, and for Lunar New Year holidays, respectively. Regarding such TVB’s arrangement, Steven quips dryly that he is after all a strong blue-chip stock used against rating slump, so no need to worry.
Airing showtime: starting Jan 24 Mon thru Friday 8:30pm @ Jade TVB & HD Jade tvb.
This time once again anotherr cannon fodder timeslot. Guess, I have to once again release my 'blue chip stock' power. (fabricated caption)
Regarding TVB's arrangement, Steven may say it does not matter, but in truth, he feels disheartened. He smiles wryly: "Company has confidence in me, so especially likes to air my series on the days when people are out on the streets or out of town. So now I've become 'Bank of China Wai', and also the so-called big blue chip stock of anti-rating slump."
Although Steven is dissatisfied with TVB's arrangement, he becomes highly animated when talking about his new series. He says in LTT, he is a faithful barrister, but in 7 Days, he is a philanderer who steals hearts and gold. In the series, both Sonija Kwok and Koni Lui get jealous of each other over him.
Talking about Sonija, some people may still recall the scandal that had these two on bad terms with each other. Who would have guessed that after ten years these two would once again collaborate to act as a pair of chivalrous burglars who rob the rich for the poor.
As to the plot of 7 Days in Life, it can be said to be a collection of stories. It has SARS as the main theme with Star Hotel as a backdrop. Added to that is Steven Ma and Sonija Kwok's resemblance to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And then there is CID Chiu Jin Lung (Bosco), who is led by his investigation of a kidnapping case to the hotel. And coincidentally, a hotel guest contacted an infectious disease which prompted the lock down of the hotel. It is during the hotel's quarantine that (Bosco) encounters Yik Jo On, (Steven Ma) who is impersonating a Thai overseas Chinese gems merchant, and burglar, Wong Ka Yu (Sonija Kwok). Jin Lung believes that this pair of burglars are not connected to the kidnapping case but he suspects they are conducting some hidden shady business in the hotel .
So he allies himself with a female reporter, Tong Jing (Joyce Cheng) to aid him in his kidnapping investigation. During their investigation, they discover that the hotel is filled with enigmatic personalities with hidden talents as well as strange happenings.
Just going by the series plot, in this reporter's opinion, 7 Days in Life seems to be so much more interesting to watch than Links to Temptation. At least, its content is simple and believable. Moreover, Lunar New Year series should be happy, so 7 Days with its lightheartedness is very suitable.
Here's wishing Steven is truly a blue chip stock that has power to raise ratings.

Bosco Wong as CID Chiu Jin Lung. He is warmhearted but is immature in handling of things. Partnered with bungling reporter, Joyce Cheng (Tong Jing), they are indeed a 'partnership made in heaven'.
Hotel owner, Kwok Fung (Fong Kwok Keung), as gratitude to Yuen Wah (Ho Sin Chan) for not killing him the year he was kidnapped, he got him a job in the hotel.
Koni Lui portrays Miss Hotel Courtesy, Liu Ho Yan. She has set her mind on catching a rich man and be married into a rich and powerful family. So she turns on her charms to lure impostor gems merchant, Steven Ma.
Patrick Tang portrays Chen Siu Nam. He pretends to be a bellboy in the hotel so that he can meet up with his cousin, Chen Bo (Lee Kwok Lun), who is the mastermind behind the kidnapping.
Great character for Steven!! Yay for this breakthrough. Uncle Leung always think the best for Steven :D
ReplyDeleteSonija and Steven will make a classic pairing in this series
