Well, anyway, that's my interpretation of Calvin's incomprehensible actions.
Contrast his 'delusional' mind and behavior to that of old professor's Alzheimer's disease.
Leung Choi Yuen's series always carry subtle relation and meanings, and attention to details.

Mr. Yik, what do you have inside your gourd of secrets?
What with your sad mouth and pensive eyes? What secrets are you hiding from Christie whom you love so much you're willing to die with her? Why can't you share your worries with the woman you love?
Unable to resist her pleading for reconciliation, Calvin gives in and holds her tight, taking brief comfort in their closeness. His plan to distant himself from her taking a short detour and respite.
Holding her like he never wants to lose her again.
The pensive, mysterious Mr. Yik.
Purposely letting Ah Lung catch him tampering Christie's drink.
This is elusive Calvin, the super thief, we are talking about, a thief who has never once being caught because he is so precise and meticulous in his planning. Would he be so careless as to be caught red handed when he knew beforehand that Ah Lung is already on to him, not to mention, totally infatuated with Christie and bend on being her chivalrous knight in shinning armor to her damsel in distress? Not a chance! Mr. Yik remains the great manipulator, the magician who does illusions well.
Waiting for episode 17, yet doesn't want the series to end this week. haiz!
