Steven is always very meticulous in his portrayal of his characters imbuing them with distinctive traits and mannerisms. Notice how Calvin likes to twitch his head in defiance or arrogance. ( No? Watch me!) In episodes 6 and 9.
in episode 6 during the impromptu party, Calvin is to snatch Mrs. Chui's jade necklace to cause a diversion. Calvin says that Lung will be do as the decoy, Christie asks him to wait and see. Without saying a word, Calvin locks eyes with Christie's as he tilts his head as his "watch me" action speaks louder than any words to Christie.
In episode 9, whereby Christie retorts in anger that likewise he is not to interfere with whatever she is doing, again without utter a word, Calvin conveys his meaning with a twitch of head and a defiant hard "watch me" look.
And there there is his habit of turning the ring on his finger when he sits or in thoughts.
And of course, that lopsided smile or smirk or smugness or defiance or arrogance accordingly.
And his fondness for red wine.
And when alone, that pensiveness.
