weibo 7/20 Sentinel poster

Wah! What an awesome poster ya! How come I don't have it? 嘩!海報好棒啊!怎麼我沒有呢?

The poster is fantastic - the color scheme is very unique. None of the past cliche. Though pink and purple are considered feminine, on the poster it is anything but. In fact, to me it gives off quite an ominous energy; a vitality radiating from these two bigger than life itself men atop the palace; their eyes locked, their weapons crossed. Two very formidable, even  sinister looking males contesting their strength and determination - nobody in their mind would want to cross them. Though superior mortals, their lives like those below are similarly controlled by destiny in the form of lightning bolts blitzing from above on them, a predestined intricate web to entangle them. Even the son of heaven, the Emperor does not escape their gods' control. What are mortals but puppets of the gods above. However, the two flying eagles on each top corner seem out of place in the poster.

TN: Yeah, what's with the eagles? Symbol of something? Reminds me of what Tsuiyiyi weibo wrote about Steven's singing evoking the lure of eagles flying over the land

Fairytale_Angel@ asianfanatics I agree with you on the poster and how you interpret it! (at least its not those cheap ones where they jus cut and paste stuff on) To me the two eagles sort of represent both Kenneth and Steven. Eagles is one on top of food chain and its ability to soar above the world made it symbolic of a higher power, knowledge and authority. Also the eagle has always been a symbol of Imperial power.

I also looked it up and found this to it:

"The eagle was a symbol born by men of action, occupied with high and weighty affairs. It was given to those of lofty spirit, ingenuity, speed in comprehension, and discrimination in matters of ambiguity. The wings signify protection, and the gripping talons symbolize ruin to evildoers. The eagle is held to represent a noble nature from its strength and aristocratic appearance, as well as its association with the ancient kings of Persia, Babylon and the Roman legions, having been the official ensign of those empires."

It somehow resemble both Steven and Kenneth's character in the drama

Tamaya: Thank you, see as that now. The eagles are indeed symbolic of Steven and Kenneth; their alter ego keeping their distance in their corner, senses highly attuned to the vibes emitting from their masters, their body tensed in a ready attack mode, their wings in full span, their sharp talons all out, both are awaiting an all out no-holds barred power game. That Kenneth eagle is closer to him than Steven's may also indicate his strength over Steven. Pictures of Steven been being beaten and tortured affirm their power status. For of course, Kenneth has the edge with his status and political clout, while Steven has to depend on his wit and backing from Power (Chan, pun intended). Kenneth is awash in adrenaline in coveting for the crown and justice for him, while Steven is driven by self-preservation and justice for his country and people. Like the eagles, the men are all these: lofty spirit, ingenuity, speed in comprehension, and discrimination in matters of ambiguity.... The eagle is held to represent a noble nature from its strength and aristocratic appearance but since their goals differed, so must their paths. To Kenneth if Steven is not for him in his quest then he is against therefore must be destroyed. And as sentinel sworn to protect the rightful emperor mandated by both Emperor Shunji and Heaven, Steven must protect Power at all cost, even with his death.
