editorial on cd sales

So far artists weibo their cd copies.

Linda - 18 copies
Tavia - 10 copies
Katy Kung - 1 copy
Sharon Chan - 10 copies

Many fans got on weibo complaining they have had problems buying Steven's cd cos' the many stores they went to did not have copies. So is this sold out situation due to poor production planning or due to inefficient marking implementation or due to unexpected brisk sales? Did Steven's marketing personnel grossly underestimated the total cd's sales therefore did not produce that many copies to start with, or did the sales personnel not able to get that many stores to stock the cds, or if they did order, their orders were not big? The stores that ran out of copies, are they planning to re-order? And even if they re-order, the initial momentum to buy is already greatly tampered, moreover, many who had wanted to buy the cd were mainlanders temporary visiting HK, so that potential sales is gone forever. Whatever the reasons the loss in potential sales is truly regrettable.

As I said before, production and a superior product though an important start to a successful investment, but to end with a successful finish, the marketing and distribution of the cds to buyers must be efficient and well thought out.

Best of luck to Steven in all his ventures and investments.

note: Sandy Lau's (Steven's HK manager) response to my above pondering:
As CD market is shrinking, the wholesalers won't take the risk to keep many copies in stock. It's something we can't control and has nothing to do with production or marketing plan.
