It echoes the singer's wistful envy of a sea gull's ability to fly, and admiration of its courage and determination to metaphorically break away from mediocrity in search of higher ideals and dreams. Steven's singing expresses the wistfulness of this song beautifully. "I wish I'm like the seagull, so courageous and determined."
