But it's too little too late for TVB to reel back Steven, he's leaving the nest, regardless. Interestingly, Sonija Kwok is not nominated for best actress for 7 Days but Selena Li is for Sentinel, and the latter's screen time is so minimal. TVB and its politics. Note: So as not to disperse votes for best series, fans decided to collectively vote for Sentinel, which has the highest ratings among Steven's 3 series this year.
With my cynicism towards TVB's motive, Steven is put between a rock and a hard place with the egregious nominations overload. If he is absent from the awards ceremony, media and people would say he's being a petty ('siu yan') ingrate to not give TVB face for his numerous nominations. If he attends then he would have to don a smiling (fake) mask and suffered through the whole facade of the awards ceremony, knowing that his presence is only for show, and that he would leave without the most coveted best actor award, though he maybe be awarded the best host as a pork award consolation. Poor Steven! Damn if he attends, damn if he does not.
