If not for the unstoppable DIE, AJCL should have been a good show to watch. There’s Fala’s guile and Linda’s wildness, and Kent’s not bad, either. And now, accordingly, Steven's turn should be next, but what to say of Steven? Can’t think of any, and really don’t want to heap misnomers on him. Steven is not me, therefore, of course, has no need for gags. In fact, he emits a magnetic field that makes one mindful of one’s P’s & Q’s in his presence.
He likes to recite poetry, writes on the side, and waxes poetic on life philosophy. Naturally, those who like him see him as interesting and witty; whereas, those who don’t, a frivolous show-off.
“I don’t commit crimes. I’m only doing my own thing. I’m not bothered by how other people see me.”
True, philosophy discourses are not a crime in itself, but problem is, entertainment circle has no use for culture pretenses.
“In this world, there must be someone who approves of me, but, probably won’t be from the entertainment circle.”
The photo on the front page is really a composite picture; Steven was actually standing on a chair. Fun eh? Illusions are often more interesting than reality. Like his Sino-Japanese cruise vacation, it stirs people’s imagination. Who did he go with? The truth is he went to seek inspiration. “My pictorial journal still needed 20 odd more pages to complete before publication, also at the same time, I could do some photo-shooting.”
So envious! If journalists had such favorable treatment, I believe all will turn authors. He has always being into book publishing. He has already published two books on society: “Why Suicide?”, and “Relatives of a chronic Patient.” (Note: Actually, Steven has published 3 books on society, in all.)
“HK$59 per book. Need to sell 1000 copies to break-even. 2000 copies to churn out a 3rd book. Whatever the sales volume, it can’t beat my one singing performance. There’s no profit in it. No fame and no reputation.” (Note: outdated quote!.)
Steven is not like those young idols with their albums of self–snapped shots of pouts and big eyes, which can easily whip up 20,000 odd copies in sales volume. At 37 years old, he is way past the stage of teeny bopper idol. His, (journal) is of substance. What is more important, it is done with passion.
“I don’t harm people or commit crimes. All I did was walk the path I choose. Ups or downs, I’m the pilot. Why do you care?”
True. There are just too many eyes in the entertainment circle.
“My writings are based on my own life experiences. Like how I hate people referring to themselves as “sale si” ( ‘si’ rhymes with faeces/sh*t, in Cantonese.) I’ve sold ice cream & educational books, but have never sold “si”. People must respect themselves. Only then, can people respect you. Outside opinions? - seldom listen. Postive? – take it with a grain of salt. Negative? –even more so, disregard.”
Steven has his own style and principles. He’s a contemporary person who has never said, “OK la”, these 3 words.
“OK la” really means “no” or “can’t”, so why not be more specific? My world has no gray middle ground.”
He has never minded how people see him, much less compromise his principles. For instance, 2 years ago, during an interview with a certain magazine, he was effusively dropping quotes from the works of contemporary Confucian scholar, Tang Jun Yi, and learned scholar, Professor Lu Wei Luan. Although never attended any of their classes, Steven kept referring them as Teacher Tang and Teacher Lu. The reporter insinuated that he was being a voluble show-off. Today, he is still Teacher Tang here and Teacher Lu there, showing no sign of embarrassment.
“I revere them so why can’t I address them as “teacher”? Just like those who believe in God, bible quotes flow freely from their mouth, too. So are they showing off, too? I believe there must be people of like mind as me. But those who identify with me will most likely not from the entertainment circle.”
True, not many showbiz people approve of Steven. For instance, in the recent Salt Traders, there were reports of him acting like Ah Jie, arbitrarily setting up rules like: no tardiness & script must be memorized.
“I didn’t know that expecting a person to be punctual or to have his/her script memorized is considered a crime. What a joke! I don’t blame that magazine. Someone got to have leaked the info to the media for it to be reported. I’m not a Mr. Happy, bend on ingratiating myself on people. My way of doing things will definitely put pressure on some people. But I can only say sorry; I’ll continue to be this way. If can’t be friends, so be it.”
Actually, Steven does have friends in the entertainment circle. Among his bosom friends are: Wayne Lai, 蔣志光 、 李國麟 、 駱應鈞 ， and more recently, Kent Cheng.
“A lot of people said I act older than my age,” he smiled wryly. “But really, I do find it hard to communicate with the younger generation artistes. They always gathered together to either play video games or discuss anime. I dread engaging in such trivial conversations. Tavia is the only actress in the younger generation that I can really talk to. She, too, has that fire inside her.
Personality is inborn, but how it is molded depends greatly on one’s life experience. Steven matured early, having to cope with his mother’s cancer and entering the workforce at the age of 16.
“During the 15 years in showbiz, my personality basically has not changed much. But that, in the past, I didn’t dare to speak out. But I dare now.”
Naturally, maturity is one reason for increased confidence. The producers are probably quite aware of Ma Chun Wai’s indomitable spirit. Of the series he leads, 80% are period drama. 100% as a protagonist. Maybe they all feel that he is convincing in such roles.
“Even though my series are never of the 80 or 100 episode big productions, I’m happy with the 20 – 30 episodes. They don’t take up much time to shoot, which allows me to earn side incomes. Frankly, the pay from one such function is equivalent to shooting a whole series. But then, I need the series to maintain my name and status.”
It all comes down to mutual scratching of backs and advantages.
“The entertainment circle is very superficial, and very capricious. Turns of event are not within our control. But still, we make our own opportunities.”
The horror in entertainment circle is nothing worse than losing one’s own self identity. On this, Steven is very much aware of. His English name, Steven, is actually a stage name. His real name is Vincent. His good friends outside the entertainment circle still call him Vincent.
“Steven is only a public persona. After work, I’m Vincent. I can promptly discard my alter ego. And ignore all gossips.”
In the past, Steven was a gossip magnet. Rumors abounded when he co-starred with Ada Choi and Sonija Kwok. And then, he was accused of inappropriateness (鹹豬手salty pig trotters) when dancing with Rain Li 李彩華 in a 《博爱欢乐传万家》fund raiser. He was even rumored of a gay relationship with his former manager. Comparatively, recent rumors on him have subsided.
“Looking back, all those things that happened have their own value. If the faults were mine then I need to do some self-reflection. If they’re fabricated, then I have to toughen myself with some kung fu self-defence skills. My kung fu skills have gotten pretty good.”
Steven grew up in Sham Sui Tin. His father was a No.9 bus driver and the family’s sole breadwinner. When young, the people he most encountered with were the street gangsters and prostitutes. His childhood background plus 15 years of immersion in entertainment decadence have built up Steven’s self-defence mechanism. Like he said, “It’s pretty good.”
“Nothing scares me much, except for cockroaches. At first, I couldn’t understand my fear of it. Later, after pondering, I figure it all goes back to that one incident when my younger sister tried to scare me with it. It didn’t scare me at all. But when she shoved it at my mom, who was, at that time, sewing a shirt on the sewing machine –she turned around and was so startled that she promptly pricked her finger on the needle, and bled profusely. And so cockroach = hurt. I guess that’s why I’m scared of it now.”
His mother has been gone for so many years now, yet Steven still can’t seem to let go.
“I think of her as being away in a faraway place. Has never left.”
No matter how good a swordsman’s kung fu may be, there is stuff he still can’t release from inside him.
“呢次斷背﹐真系傳得過 。”馬浚偉笑道。
“This particular brokeback rumor is truly worth circulating,”

若 不 是 《 古 靈 精 探 》 欲 罷 不 能 ， 照 計 《 金 石 良 緣 》 也 算 好 看 。
好 看 在 陳 法 拉 夠 叻 ， 鍾 嘉 欣 夠 wet ， 鄭 則 士 not so bad 。
硬 要 伸 延 下 去 ， 應 該 點 都 輪 到 馬 浚 偉 。 但 馬 浚 偉 乜 好 呢 ？ 想 不 到 ， 也 不 敢 亂 扣 帽 子 。
馬 浚 偉 不 是 我 ， 固 然 不 會 搞 爛 gag ； 他 甚 至 有 股 磁 場 令 身 邊 人 正 襟 危 坐 。
他 嗜 好 吟 詩 ， 副 業 寫 作 ， 人 生 哲 理 出 口 成 文 。
喜 歡 他 的 ， 自 然 覺 得 他 風 趣 鬼 馬 ； 不 喜 歡 的 ， 便 是 吹 水 輕 狂 。
「 我 又 無 殺 人 放 火 ， 自 己 樂 在 其 中 ， 從 來 唔 理 人 點 睇 。 」
說 教 講 道 理 從 來 不 是 罪 ， 問 題 是 ， 娛 樂 圈 根 本 不 需 要 附 庸 風 雅 。
「 呢 個 世 界 一 定 有 認 同 我 嘅 人 ， 不 過 應 該 唔 喺 娛 樂 圈 。 」
說 得 再 赤 裸 不 過 ， 喜 歡 馬 浚 偉 的 人 ， 大 概 只 想 看 他 表 演 跳 舞 或 踩 波 波 這 類 驚 險 玩 意 。
過 癮 ， 不 過 未 必 真 實 。
沒 有 賣 屎
開 版 那 張 相 ， 其 實 是 合 成 照 ， 馬 浚 偉 只 是 站 在 椅 子 上 。 過 癮 吧 ？ 假 象 通 常 比 真 實 富 娛 樂 性 。 正 如 他 剛 從 日 本 與 大 陸 度 假 回 來 ， 郵 輪 假 期 令 人 無 限 聯 想 ， 與 誰 去 ？ 實 情 是 ， 他 純 粹 為 「 攞 靈 感 」 。
「 散 文 集 要 寫 多 二 十 幾 篇 先 夠 出 書 ， 還 有 順 便 影 相 。 」
真 令 人 羨 慕 ， 假 如 記 者 有 這 樣 的 待 遇 ， 相 信 個 個 是 作 家 。
他 一 直 有 鋪 自 資 出 書 癮 ， 之 前 出 過 兩 本 社 會 實 錄 《 點 解 要 自 殺 》 和 《 我 是 病 人 家 屬 》 。
「 五 十 九 蚊 一 本 ， 賣 一 千 本 才 收 支 平 衡 ， 賣 兩 千 先 夠 錢 繼 續 做 第 三 本 。 賣 幾 多 都 不 夠 我 唱 一 場 show ， 根 本 賺 不 到 錢 ， 沽 甚 麼 名 ， 釣 甚 麼 譽 ？ 」
馬 浚 偉 可 不 是 拿 着 相 機 自 拍 幾 張 大 眼 嘟 嘴 相 便 賣 二 萬 的 青 春 偶 像 ， 今 年 三 十 七 歲 了 ， 早 過 了 o氹 o靓 妹 的 粉 樣 年 華 。 一 切 ， 都 是 實 牙 實 齒 的 明 買 明 賣 。 最 重 要 是 ， 當 事 人 樂 在 其 中 。
「 我 無 殺 人 放 火 ， 又 無 傷 天 害 理 ， 只 不 過 行 自 己 認 為 正 確 的 路 。 輸 同 贏 都 係 自 己 孭 飛 ， 你 理 我 ？ 」
說 得 對 ， 娛 樂 圈 ， 就 是 太 多 眼 光 。
「 寫 的 都 是 發 生 在 自 己 身 上 的 事 ， 如 最 憎 人 話 自 己 係 『 sale 屎 』 。 我 之 前 也 賣 過 雪 糕 ， 推 銷 過 教 科 書 ， 但 從 來 無 賣 過 屎 。
「 做 人 最 緊 要 尊 重 自 己 ， 別 人 才 看 得 起 你 。 其 他 意 見 ， 通 常 少 聽 。 正 面 的 無 必 要 聽 太 多 ， 負 面 的 更 加 無 謂 聽 。 」
首 次 夥 拍 鄭 則 士 ， 馬 浚 偉 自 言 相 逢 恨 晚 。 「 Ken 哥 好 處 係 唔 會 直 接 教 你 ， 只 係 講 佢 之 前 經 驗 ， 其 實 已 經 袋 緊 錢 落 你 袋 。 」

必 有 鄰
馬 浚 偉 很 有 自 己 一 套 ， 愛 恨 分 明 ， 他 是 從 來 不 說 「 OK 啦 」 三 個 字 的 現 代 人 。
「 『 OK 啦 』 即 是 『 唔 係 』 、 『 唔 得 』 ， 那 為 何 不 講 清 楚 ？ 我 的 世 界 ， 沒 有 灰 色 地 帶 。 」
他 從 來 不 介 意 別 人 眼 光 ， 更 加 不 易 妥 協 。 舉 個 例 ， 兩 年 前 某 周 刊 訪 問 馬 浚 偉 ， 他 把 近 代 儒 學 大 師 唐 君 毅 與 著 名 學 者 盧 瑋 鑾 教 授 的 說 話 掛 在 嘴 邊 ， 沒 上 過 他 們 一 課 的 馬 浚 偉 經 常 唐 老 師 前 盧 老 師 後 ， 記 者 兜 個 圈 串 他 叨 光 扮 嘢 。 今 天 ， 他 依 舊 唐 老 師 前 盧 老 師 後 ， 半 點 不 面 紅 。
「 他 們 是 我 極 尊 敬 的 人 ， 為 甚 麼 不 可 叫 聲 『 老 師 』 ？ 正 如 有 人 信 神 ， 一 樣 滿 口 聖 經 怎 樣 怎 樣 ， 難 道 又 叫 拋 書 包 ？
「 上 次 跟 盧 老 師 吃 飯 ， 她 說 無 論 科 技 多 發 達 ， 中 國 人 的 傳 統 思 想 是 不 應 改 變 ， 我 認 同 到 不 得 了 。 孔 子 也 說 過 『 德 不 孤 ， 必 有 鄰 』 ， 我 相 信 總 有 跟 我 志 同 道 合 的 人 ， 不 過 那 些 認 同 我 的 人 ， 通 常 不 在 娛 樂 圈 。 」
在 娛 樂 圈 ， 的 確 很 少 人 認 同 馬 浚 偉 。 再 舉 個 例 ， 最 近 拍 《 勝 雪 鹽 棧 》 ， 有 報 道 指 他 扮 汪 阿 姐 ， 自 訂 規 矩 要 人 遵 守 ， 如 「 不 准 遲 到 」 、 「 要 熟 讀 劇 本 」 等 ， 幾 紅 衛 兵 feel ， 寫 那 個 。
「 原 來 想 人 守 時 與 背 劇 本 是 一 宗 『 罪 』 ， 真 的 很 可 笑 。 我 絕 對 不 會 怪 那 本 周 刊 ， 有 人 放 料 新 聞 界 才 有 得 寫 。 正 如 一 家 大 公 司 ， 你 怎 會 沒 有 敵 人 ， 怎 會 不 知 道 誰 在 篤 你 背 脊 ？
「 我 不 是 歡 樂 先 生 ， 不 是 用 來 討 好 人 。 我 的 做 事 方 式 ， 絕 對 會 給 人 壓 力 ， 但 只 能 說 句 抱 歉 ， 我 會 繼 續 這 樣 做 ， 無 朋 友 就 拉 倒 。 」
有 網 友 特 別 喜 歡 馬 浚 偉 與 黎 耀 祥 這 一 對 ， 把 他 們 的 電 視 片 段 剪 輯 成 MV ， 大 玩 斷 背 。 「 呢 次 斷 背 ， 真 係 傳 得 過 。 」 馬 浚 偉 笑 道 。
近 年 劇 集 大 部 分 古 裝 ， 大 家 都 似 乎 覺 得 馬 浚 偉 適 合 演 古 代 人 。
非 攞 獎 不 可
馬 浚 偉 也 不 是 沒 有 圈 中 朋 友 ， 最 friend 那 幾 個 ， 是 黎 耀 祥 、 蔣 志 光 、 李 國 麟 、 駱 應 鈞 ， 最 近 多 了 個 鄭 則 士 。
「 好 多 人 都 說 我 老 氣 橫 秋 。 」 他 苦 笑 ， 「 但 後 生 那 輩 真 的 溝 通 不 到 ， 成 班 人 圍 在 一 起 講 打 機 講 卡 通 ， 我 很 怕 九 唔 搭 八 地 吹 水 。
「 楊 怡 是 唯 一 傾 到 偈 的 後 生 女 ， 她 也 有 那 團 火 。 」
性 格 固 然 是 與 生 俱 來 ， 但 如 何 發 揮 ， 就 是 人 生 經 驗 。 成 熟 ， 因 為 早 熟 。 母 親 患 癌 多 年 ， 馬 浚 偉 十 六 歲 便 出 來 做 事 養 家 。
「 入 行 十 五 年 ， 基 本 性 格 無 變 ， 但 以 前 不 夠 膽 講 的 ， 現 在 夠 。 」
人 長 大 了 固 然 是 信 心 增 強 原 因 之 一 ， 穩 坐 電 視 台 一 線 小 生 之 位 ， 也 足 夠 令 馬 浚 偉 邁 向 「 男 版 汪 阿 姐 」 。 監 製 也 大 概 知 道 馬 浚 偉 性 格 剛 烈 ， 他 做 男 主 角 的 劇 集 ， 八 成 古 裝 ， 十 成 正 派 。 可 能 大 家 都 覺 得 ， 他 有 說 服 力 。
「 雖 然 我 拍 的 從 來 不 是 八 十 集 、 一 百 集 大 製 作 ， 但 二 、 三 十 集 已 經 好 開 心 。 佔 的 時 間 不 長 ， 可 容 許 我 出 外 登 台 。
「 老 實 說 ， 走 一 次 埠 所 賺 的 錢 ， 已 等 如 拍 一 套 劇 集 ， 但 我 又 實 在 需 要 電 視 劇 這 個 平 台 幫 自 己 提 高 知 名 度 。 」
說 穿 了 ， 都 是 互 惠 互 利 。 幕 前 的 名 譽 地 位 ， 馬 浚 偉 都 稀 罕 。
「 不 只 是 恨 攞 男 主 角 獎 ， 係 直 頭 一 定 要 攞 ！ 我 會 有 朝 一 日 令 觀 眾 覺 得 馬 浚 偉 非 攞 不 可 ， 像 陳 豪 。 」
九 三 年 參 加 《 新 秀 》 入 行 ， 初 出 道 時 被 指 是 翻 版 黎 明 。
入 行 前 在 朗 文 出 版 社 做 sales ， 樣 子 老 成 持 重 ， 其 實 只 得 十 七 歲 。
Stephen vs Vincent
最 近 ， 馬 浚 偉 在 學 拍 攝 。
「 要 攞 獎 ， 先 要 有 input 。 學 了 拍 攝 之 後 ， 才 意 識 到 自 己 在 鏡 頭 內 原 來 無 甫 士 無 表 情 ， 極 之 呆 板 。 夜 晚 燈 光 師 打 燈 ， 原 來 有 正 反 燈 之 分 ， 有 條 線 從 鏡 頭 開 始 度 起 ， 有 數 得 計 … …
「 娛 樂 圈 好 虛 浮 ， 學 多 啲 感 覺 實 在 啲 。 際 遇 控 制 不 到 ， 但 機 會 可 自 己 製 造 。 」
虛 浮 的 恐 怖 ， 莫 過 於 迷 失 自 己 。 這 方 面 ， 馬 浚 偉 分 得 很 清 楚 。 他 洋 名 Stephen ， 原 來 是 藝 名 ， 真 名 Vincent 。 圈 外 好 友 ， 今 時 今 日 依 然 叫 他 Vincent 。
「 Stephen 只 是 一 個 角 色 扮 演 ， 放 了 工 ， 就 是 Vincent 。 我 可 以 立 刻 脫 殼 ， 所 有 是 非 都 不 聞 不 問 。 」
從 前 的 馬 浚 偉 ， 頗 惹 是 非 ， 與 蔡 少 芬 郭 羨 妮 拍 劇 ， 被 指 靠 緋 聞 博 宣 傳 ； 與 李 彩 華 跳 舞 籌 款 ， 又 被 指 鹹 豬 手 ； 好 端 端 簽 個 經 理 人 ， 又 被 傳 同 性 戀 。 最 近 反 而 少 了 這 類 新 聞 。
「 現 在 回 看 ， 每 一 件 事 發 生 總 有 它 的 價 值 。 自 己 有 錯 ， 就 要 檢 討 ； 無 中 生 有 的 ， 就 要 練 一 身 武 功 。 「 我 的 武 功 ， 現 在 都 幾 好 。 」
現 在 與 爸 爸 同 住 。
男 人 最 怕
馬 浚 偉 在 深 水 埗 白 田 邨 長 大 ， 爸 爸 是 九 巴 司 機 ， 獨 力 養 一 家 七 口 。 他 小 時 候 見 得 最 多 的 ， 是 蠱 惑 仔 與 妓 女 ， 一 步 一 針 筒 。
這 樣 環 境 長 大 ， 加 上 十 五 年 娛 樂 圈 浸 淫 ， 馬 浚 偉 的 一 身 武 功 ， 如 他 所 說 ， 應 該 幾 好 。 「 我 無 嘢 怕 ， 唯 一 最 驚 曱 甴 ， 十 個 驚 有 一 百 個 ！ 」
看 得 出 他 是 真 的 怕 ， 說 時 毛 管 直 豎 。
「 最 初 唔 明 點 解 咁 驚 ， 後 來 自 我 檢 討 過 。 原 來 細 個 時 有 次 阿 妹 執 起 隻 曱 甴 ， 佢 拎 嚟 嚇 我 ， 我 都 唔 驚 ， 但 當 佢 拎 俾 媽 媽 睇 ， 媽 媽 當 時 車 緊 衫 ， 一 回 頭 嚇 親 ， 手 指 公 俾 衣 車 針 插 親 ， 流 咗 好 多 血 。 自 此 ， 曱 甴 = 受 傷 ， 應 該 係 我 怕 嘅 原 因 。 」
母 親 過 世 近 十 年 ， 馬 浚 偉 其 實 一 直 未 放 下 。
「 我 當 佢 去 咗 一 個 好 遠 地 方 ， 未 走 過 。 」
大 俠 武 功 再 好 ， 都 有 不 能 釋 懷 的 地 方 。
