A Little Story
小故事

 One day, Conscience encountered Humanity, reunited after a long separation! Conscience asked: “What have you been up to these days?” Humanity said: “I’m searching for Morality!” Humanity in turn asked Conscience what it has been doing lately. Conscience said: “Searching for Value!” They both laughed out loud, haha; strange, how their former friends have all disappeared? Suddenly, Morality and Value appeared before their very eyes. Pleasantly surprised, Conscience and Humanity asked: “Long time no see, where did you all go?” They replied: “We’ve been seeking Justice, but to no avail!” The four people have nothing else to say… (re:weibo 9/14 22:07 )

I wrote this short story September last year.  What prompted my writing of this story I cannot recollect anymore, but what I can affirm is that my heart holds these five characters in high esteem.  

Technology has advanced greatly, society has improved greatly; all are advancing forward, except for some remnants of traditional thinking and philosophy that do not advance but retreat. I subscribe to Confucian way of thinking; although I do not follow them blindly I am willing to adapt its thinking in today’s contemporary times, but undoubtedly the basic concept of its direction and its attitude are for the good! Only that the world attitude has changed drastically, making it difficult for people to take a breather for reflective contemplation!

有一天,良知巧遇人性,他们久别重逢!良知问:最近忙甚麼?人性说:在找道德!人性反问良知最近干啥?良知说:在找价值!两人哈哈大笑,也奇怪从前好友怎 麼都不见了?突然,道德和价值出现在他俩面前,良知和人性惊喜的问:多年不见,去了哪裏?他俩说:我们一直在找公义,只是找不到!四人无语……

以上短文是我写於去年9月的。回想当时何以突有此思,已无从稽考。但我从来肯定,小故事的5位主角,一直在我心中有著很高的地位!

科技愈见发达,社会愈见进步,一切都是向前的。唯独一些传统遗留下来的思想理念,却不进且退。我信奉儒家思想,虽不会盲目跟从,也乐意跟随时间步伐作出调 整,但基础的方向和态度,既然完善,则母须存疑!只是世态转变速度之惊人,已容不人稍作喘息,细想反思!
