Editorial - how about a series on cyber crimes?

Talking about Steven's new tv series (if he is ever going to film one despite his reiterations of filming one soon, since like forever).  I would love to watch Steven in a drama of cyber police pitting wits against invisible cyber criminals, sans the usual overtly draggy romantic entanglement(s). Recently I just finished watching this superb 2012 Korean tv drama, Ghost/Phantom  (유령), which is purely a cyber police investigation of internet crimes drama without any romantic storyline on the side.  Highly recommended!  'Ghost' s storyline is tight, fast-paced and extremely riveting on how crimes can be so easily, invisibly and secretly perpetrated by those who are computer savvy - in other words, hackers hacking computers for nefarious schemes and agenda. Information is power!

Years ago I read the novel, The World Truth by David Baldacci, and I was totally blown away by the immense, infinite power of internet (not that I wasn't before but the book brings forth just how powerful and deadly internet can be in the wrong hands) . "Dick, I need a war." And Dick almost 'created' a war for him (a prominent wealthy greedy weapon monger) thru internet manipulations in fabricating false news/videos eagerly and swiftly spread by netizens all over the world. TVB, Starhub, Astro votings? - pfff! -  a piece of cake to manipulate with a few keystrokes via infinite created zombies/dummies IPs.

So, what kind/genre of drama would you like Steven to be in?

  1. With his muscular physique now , think he would look smart n suave in uniform. How abt a series as a pilot or navy officer requiring him to wear uniform? And the female lead be Charmaine Sheh. I like both of them together.

    1. Steven looking smart in uniform is a bonus in any series. Have you watched the sales presentation video of "Triumph in the Sky (1)" with Steven in a pilot uniform?

  4. I hope Steven could produce & act in drama series similar to American drama series such as Castle, Suits, where each episode has a main storyline with the main cast life evolving. When the series is popular it can runs for many seasons and fans can continue watching without a closure. In between seasons, Steven can sings, acts in other dramas & projects. All-in-all, fans can continually enjoy Steven's multi-talents.

    1. OMG! I simply love Castle --- so funny at the same time the cases are engrossing. The best episode to me got to be when that blonde actress observes Beckett at her work to to better understand Nikki Heat, the character she's going to portray in Castle book adaption movie. haha! Steven can definitely be that egotistical Castle. But I've not watched Suits, but it is now in my list to do so. I actually caught Castle during its marathon reruns this summer -- from episode 1 thru 2013 and early 2014. Definitely, Steven's multi talents are underused.

    2. Great, we have another similar favourite! I started watching Castle last year when I moved to Massachusettts and had since watched almost all the episodes. The current season has so much twist to the plot, super interesting to watch. Agreed, Steven can be Castle, they are both so charamastic and most suited for the Castle role. By the way, Steven and Nathan Fallion are both 43 years old (although Steven looks much younger) and both careers started in 1993 ... so much similarity, lets hope Steven can act in a series like Castle.

    3. KJ Shi: So, I started watching Suits, and I got to say I love it even more than Castle. Harvey is so suave, slick, smooth, confident and totally arrogant, what a man!

    4. Haha, absolutely agreed.

  5. Yea. But then who is gonna produce the series for Steven to act in? TVB? would it be wishful thinking for us?

    1. Didn't his new mainland TaoYuan promise Steven 2 or 3 tv series and 1 movie to film every year? Of course, it is wishful thinking on our part.

  6. I think Steven will continue to act in Christian films. There is a calling for him to convey God's message of love to mankind. How about getting some true life stories from Christian ex-drug addicts or convicts who have been transformed by the power of God's love. He can meet with these people and who knows some may be willing to share their testimonies. Steven must have faith that he will receive inspiration and anointing to write the script. In order to make it interesting, there must be suspense, crimes, plots, etc, etc ... in the story and he has to be the main actor in order to have the impact. There is this desire in him to take the role of a bad guy because it is more challenging and different from the normal. Of course, the bad guy will turn from his wicked ways in the end. It will be very meaningful because the drama will touch the lives of people who have gone astray. There is hope for them. God's love is powerful, it is revealed through people and can transform lives. So, it will be amazing if the drama that he acts in will lead some people back to the right path.

    1. Leney:
Though I'm a Christian, I'm not a fan of Christian evangelistic films and I've watched quite a few. Some I enjoyed, most I find forgettable and too evangelistic, not to mention extremely sappy and too predictable for my taste. I liken them to hallmark dramas if not propaganda films, whereby the latter is filmed not for mere entertainment purpose but with an agenda, inspirational though it maybe for some but for me I don't especially enjoy watching a propaganda/evangelist movie that is set out from the start to 'change' my mind and set me back on the right path. Also, sorry to say but because of their shoestring budgets, their quality definitely suffered. JMHO! That being said, here's a shoestring budget mv that gets its inspirational message across to its listeners, and powerfully at that too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGZq9QdEMOA

Leney, btw, have you read the blockbuster Christian book series (original), "Left Behind" by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins? I was so into them when they were first published. A really good read for all, not just Christians.

  7. Yes and Leney can help with the script, since this is your idea. Would be a bonus if the drama can be in Cantonese version too.好期待哦!

  8. No, I haven't read the books you mentioned, Tamaya. Thanks for sharing your views. Yes, Irene, it would be so interesting to help writing a script, imagine for Ma Chun Wei to act in! Ha! Ha! So excited even when I think about it and of course must be in Cantonese version. But believe me, Steven can do it and that's the reason why he left TVB. I am sure he would like to move forward to explore his own world of creativity and produce something fresh and out of the ordinary for his fans to watch. Thanks for your reply, Irene.

  9. Missed and longing to see Steven acting in Cantonese drama again but pls no more pairing with the 3 so called tvb sisters. Personally, I would love to see him with Charmaine Sheh again in a modern comedy drama. Noticed there is no collaboration with Myolie Hu so far. My Christmas wish. Hahaha
