Good vs Evil discussion on weibo

Steven discussing evil vs good, and I was lucky to be present during the ongoing discussion, even if only as a silent reader. Steven was online discussing with fans on evil vs good, and of course, the discussion digressed into different topics including philosophy and psychology, and books, "紅岩", "天獄" and Cao Cao's short poems. TN: Steven is really nice to his fans. Not wanting to treat them as a collective faceless fan base, he asks them to reveal their age, gender and occupation. 20 or so did. Surprisingly many are teachers. Most are 20 ish -early, mid and late.. Steven really impressed me with his genuine interactions with his fans, seeing them as individuals not a group of faceless fans, and not taking their support of him for granted. He also thanked them for accompanying him chatting into late at night. Steven's last tweet was at 2:46 am.

Steven's getting all riled up over the brutal death of an innocent child; posted 3 consecutive weibo entries.
Steven thinks too much, feels too much, hence hurt too for other people. Steven's the kind of person going down the endangered and extinction path of dinosaurs in this apathetic and troubled world of ours. The brutal killing of the kid is truly heinous, oh dear God! How about that Indian boy whose hand was cut off for stealing a piece of bread? Oh, so heart wrenching to read.

9/14 12:08 A coldblooded driver hit a child, so deliberately drove over him altogether: A shocking accident occurred in Xinyi City, Jiangsu. A 3-1/2 year-old boy died when brutally ran over 4 times by a car. The captured scene in the onsite closed circuit camera showed the apathy of the driver, who later sped off as if nothing had happened. After arresting him, the police said since he and the deceased’s family had no past discord, the accident would not be arraigned as a premeditated killing but would proceed as a normal traffic accident. (Drove over a child, the driver could not feel it? Too ridiculous ba? Got off the car, to make sure of what? Killed someone, and then just took off like that? Worse than an animal! )

Will you all be interested in discussing the topic of good vs evil?

Contemplation does not have to equate reality; writings do not represent actual experiences! In today’s troubled world, one should ponder on good vs evil. You can use the philosophical perspective for contemplation, but should not use the Buddhist perspective for explanation! My statement is by no means disrespecting religion, but that if just by a sentence everything can be explained, then why do we need to experience life on earth? I hope that through words, we can understand life better! It can be that I enlighten you, or likewise, you made me comprehend, right?

Wicked ways and deeds are of course called ‘hateful’, good conduct and deeds are of course called ‘lovable’.

To have equality in the world, hmm…should say equality based on perceptual, truly difficult! But equality based on rationality; to me is a must!

I believe in the doctrine of the mean (moderation), you all know that ba! Like I’d said (can be moderate) perceptually, yes; but (can't be moderate) on rationality! Because if everything is in moderation, then it will be tough to distinguish right from wrong, and good from evil. The legal system will also become confusing. That will be a very dangerous situation.

Well said! There is indeed a gray medium between good and evil. But upon pondering, can it be that the evil vs good came about because of legal principles? If not, then who decide evil vs good?

Brought up a key point here! If I’m not satisfied with today’s legal system, then what should I do? Feel powerless and just bear it in silence? I can’t! I don’t study law, but I do understand its inception motivation! Hmm..want to change, should say persist, if want to persist to equalize evil vs good in the society, then that will have to depend on people, depend on living people! Won’t compromise, won’t feel helpless. When still living, will insist on principles….oh dear.. though love my country but if I were to continue, might get censored.

(in response to a fan saying maybe he is being too inflexible like how Ji Yuen is compare to Chai Gao who is willing to compromise his principles to benefit himself. There was a heated discussion among some fans over the concept of evil vs good. Compromising principles vs non-compromising. )

The rule of law, legal system? Got to answer this question very carefully! Haha! History enacted them; the problems arose from Britain’s occupation of Hong Kong! Can only say that the growth of Hong Kong of that era was different from that of China’s. But now? It has changed! Our country has progressed as has her legal system. To improve, she needs time, more so, she needs us!

The difference between the rule by law and legal system? hm, I suggest you buy some books on it, I don't know how to answer that! recommend "中国大陸政治術語-李谷城,當代政治哲學導論 (An Introduction to Contemporary Political Philosophy by Will Kymlicka),香港法-陳弘毅等合編!

Three of the books are from years back when I did a self-study course. Maybe a bit outdated, but the rationale should still apply!

Haha! Sometimes indulge in shooting the breeze to the fullest, sometime enjoy a deep discussion on a topic, isn't it better this way?

9/29 18:03 Just now on the street saw someone throwing a stone at a stray dog. Before I could say anything, somebody yelled at him to stop! En..human lives are of course important but animals too have their right to live. If don’t like animals, fine, but please don’t hurt or abuse them. Because this act not only breaks the law, but even more so, belied your being the most intelligent species of all living creatures.

From young, I have had 4 doggies! 3 mongrels, and 1 ‘squirrel’ dog! Very cute!

Once when in Meizhou, hanging inside a roadside shop were numerous skinless and bloody dogs! I almost threw up! #o#

Ai, rabbits, I can’t stand either! But actually there are many animals that are cute when young, but still when grown, are all eaten by us.

Some people just hate little animals! But then people who eat dog meat, I definitely dislike, too!

Coincidentally my birthday happened during the filming of AWT, a group of “doggie’ friends helped me celebrate it. Good friends, Dexter Young (天經), and Wayne Lai (祥仔) dropped by especially to wish me well. Very festive! Maybe there are people who think that artists always acted affable towards each other when on camera, but off camera acted otherwise! Actually in the entertainment world, true friendships are aplenty, but of course, fake rumors are even more out there! But in my camera, what I see are all flesh and blood friends!

But I kept questioning and doubted. But, now I truly believed, just like how it was back then that year when I first got to know Him. Maybe I have changed, but He has never changed! So, this late at night, just wanting to share a small piece of my testimony! May peace and happiness be with you all!

TN: I'm so totally shocked by Steven's revelation that he is a Christian now because he had always maintained that he had no religious faith. I'm so happy Steven has found Christ or maybe it was the other way around. I couldn't be any happier for Steven than right now. Christ has carried me through tough times, too! May he find peace in his faith.

We all share a common interest, and filled with a sporting spirit to match skills in a game. What a great pleasure in life! Badminton…. Thank you!! Haha!
