SITS PA Compliments Steven for his soup

Written by Sits PA
Title: Ma Zai compassionate ‘leng’ soup brand

As the saying goes, good colleagues are hard to come by, and harder still are good colleagues who are also caring, and I was so fortunate as to encounter one.

Actually shooting Sits was not easy at all, a lot of fighting scenes, plus the filming was done when winter was at its coldest, which added to the hardship. Especially so for female lead, Tavia. To act her role of “nui hap” ( female warrior) she suffered utmost hardship. I recall there was this scene whereby Sing Suet was forced to jump into the sea to escape her pursuers. It was 9 degrees Celsius then. Even though Tavia had pre-prepared herself against the bitter cold by wrapping herself in 4 layers of saran wrap, and had brought along ginger tea and a hot water bag, but still when she was assisted out of the water, she was shivering uncontrollably with cold, truly pitiful to see.

Also, Tavia suffers from vertigo (pressure imbalance in the ears). Once while shooting an outdoor scene, she felt dizzy and nauseous, and had to go to the hospital for treatment. Faced with such hardships, Ma Zai’s compassionate ‘leng’ soups were like an oasis, nourishing everyone’s spirits which were fast going crazy from all those overnighter shooting of scenes!!

Who could have thought eh? That a man could be so considerate as to know to make soups. Tavia plus others plus myself were all first timers partaking soups made by a male. So touched! Ma Zai compassionate ‘leng’ soup/herbal tea brand was truly of very high quality. Full of rich ingredients such as 花膠啦、white fungi . And so very delicious!

Besides soups, Ma Zai also treated the cast and production crew to a BBQ; prawns, crabs and clams, haha! Our hard work was truly worth it.

Haha! I’ll stop right here before everybody starts salivating. Let Tavia shares her joy at partaking Ma Zai compassionate ‘leng’ soup brand ba.

TN: That Steven shared his soups with his co-stars and crew members is not new to old timer Steven fans, (Susan has uploaded pixs of Steven & his soups in her blog.) but Tavia was the first one to break the news of Steven's leng tong to the press. I think. So, props to Tavia!

Steven Ma's plans for 2010

2009/12/26  22:10 馬浚偉先奪視帝才結婚

Steven Ma: Win TVB best actor award first then get married
Mak Ling Ling (well-known HK fortune teller) predicts that Steven Ma will get married either next year 2010 or in 2011; does not rule out lighting marriage or old flames re-ingnited.  What's more Steven is very much ready for marriage. When asked if he already has a marriage partner in mind, Steven says he wants to keep his love life low profile. He stresses the pressure is not on him but on his girlfriend. (note: not sure 'pressure' to get married or 'pressure' from media exposure of their romance)  As to awards, Mak Ling Ling predicts Steven will do extremely well next year (2010) or the year after (2011).

Steven reveals that in August this year during his contract renewal negotiation with TVB that among his terms were to portray a villian and to host a culinary show, and that he will once again hold a microphone in his hand to release a new music album.

Since his debut 16 years ago, Steven's 'good man' image has taken up roots in the tv audience's hearts. Steven says TVB will arrange for him to portray his first time villain role next year.  In his meet-and-greet fans session held at a mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 6 pm, Steven says in all his 16 years of acting he has never once acted a villian, so his villain role next year will be a big challenge to him.

However, he is not worry his villain will make the viewers dislike him, after all, he has been portraying a good man image for all these years now, so hopefully the viewers will not feel that he's a bad person.

Not only Steven will have a break-through role, but he also reveals he will once again pick up the microphone for his new music album.  As for the contents he will definitely include Cantonese songs, and will leave the Mandarin songs for the company to arrange.

Besides the above plans, Steven also reveals he likes to cook, which TVB was not even aware of but next year it will arrange for Steven to host a new cooking show,  Appentice Chef 《大廚出馬》.

*Steven renewed his TVB contract in August 2009 after much persuasion and promises from Stephen Chan.  Promises except for the culinary show that were never realized, no wonder TVB permit him to prematurely terminate his contract with impunity because they themselves breached the contract first.

Why SM left TVB in 2003

'Nikki01', on 12 Dec 2009 - 11:30 AM, said: WilyMinx, welcome to this thread. As I understand, he joined a mainland production company but was not successful. It is certainly strange that he would leave TVB at the peak of his career but probably was due to some contract issues with TVB.

Tamaya: Steven was away from HK scenes for less than 2 years only . In December 2003 he filmed VOH2 that lasted for 4 months into early 2004. In July 2005 he signed a 4-year contract with TVB.

In between he performed in several concerts in Canada and USA.
In 2004 he did numerous promotional tours for the newly released album 《浪漫假期》in China. He got on the circuit of several China talk shows including Sina and sohu.
He acted in a China tvb series 'Wang Zhao Jun' (starring Rain Li and Gallen Lo).
He begin writing his book that was published in 2008.
He starred in this Snake Curse movie which btw will be released nationwide next year as a new year attraction. (yes after all those years)
He dated and actually had a life! lol!
And others that I forgot or did not know of.

As to why he left at the peak of his career, we could only second guess.
I believe it was a combination of stuff listed below.
At the time, his contract with Frankie, his ex-manager, had just ended. As we now know, Steven was unhappy with Frankie's management of him. He had wanted to concentrate on his acting career but Frankie wanted to boost his singing career instead. Steven might have had signed up with TVB if not for the inopportune decline of Catherine Tsang's power and the rise of Ms. Lok's, and for his blown-up scandal with Sonija, the latter which finally determined his decision to just leave and find his fortune else, on his own. As it was, the notions of being his own man again, of being freed from contractual obligations, and most of of distancing himself from HK entertainment cesspool. He needed a breather from the tabloids that were gleefully and unscrupulously killing his reputation over his and Sonija scandal. The HK media was really harsh on him, very disparaging and very vindictive. A shame that Catherine's power was in peril at the time, too. But such is life, 人算不如天算! It might interest you to read this fan's thoughts on his and Sonija scandal. I don't necessarily agree with her opinion but I respect it in that she wrote it well.

2009 Dec -SM and Shirley Yeung at Lamborghini charity rally with kids

AF# 1976
Tamaya: So, what do you think the weather was like on that day? On one hand, Shirley was sheathed sexily in her little black tube dress, baring milky shoulders and long legs, on the other hand, Steven (gasped) seemed overly bundled up from top to bottom in his assemble of ski hat, leather jacket, boots and his hole-in-one jeans. Shirley looks ravishing but Steven, WTH was he thinking doled up like that...... Argh! Lol! Quick, someone please go steal Steven's ski-hat and jeans, hide them in a place he will never find.

Commentator: In the rally, Steven Ma disclosed that he will be commenting on the East Asian badminton games, and that he will do his prep work way before then so that he won't look bad. Talk about child sponsorship, I wonder if Ma Zai himself participates in it.

S: Yes, I'm still doing it. But..
R: How long have you been doing it?
S: I guess got to be about 10 years now. (Steven asks manager) about 10 years? (manager: at least 10 years) 10 years or so on.
R: How many?

R: All from China?
S: All China. Actually when sponsoring kids, should not have preference but I'm a Chinese. Those that I can sponsor I of course wish to help kids from the poorer regions in China. There are five in all. Some have already graduated. So now will sponsor other kids. Yeah, no need for sponsorship anymore after they grow up. There are two with last name Ma.

R: A travel new program
S: No, it's a cooking program
R: You know how to cook?
S: Yes, it's called 大廚出馬 (Top Chef on the move??)
R: Top chef? Should be ordinary chef ba?
