馬浚偉嘆攞視帝要等奇蹟出現@on.cc

Steven was attending the blessing ceremony for his latest series, The Alarming Thunder in the Forbidden City, at TVB city. His two new series, ‘Links to Temptation’ and ‘7 Days of Isolation’ will both be aired early next year, which, of course, will be at a great disadvantage as far as the year end anniversary awards is concerned. But he is confident, and cited ‘Ghost Writer’ as an example, which garnered high ratings despite being pitted against World Cup. He jests: “All these years I’ve been fighting a battle, but getting an award will have to wait for a miracle to happen!” He hopes his nomination will get him into the top 5, but what he hopes most is for Evergreen to get the best supporting actor award; he quips: “Fei Fan Gor eating crap (shit) this time will be well worth it.”

I usually wait to translate news reports because the more detailed articles usually take longer to come out before those quickie snippets of news. I translated the previous 'miracle' snippet because I thought Steven's quip on “Fei Fan Gor eating crap (sh*t) this time is well worth it.” was quite funny. Here's another cut and paste version on Steven's comment. So what did Steven really say? Will have to watch the video.

Last night Steven Ma attended Thunder’s blessing ceremony. He expressed that two of his news series will be airing soon. Given that fact, it stands to reason that most likely he will lose out again at next year anniversary awards. When asked if he feels disappointed that his new series never gets to air just before anniversary? Steven smiles and says: “A little. A Watchdog’s Tale is among the top 5 rated series this year. Not low at all. But because it was aired so early in the year, there wasn't much hype on it. And also like Ghost Writer, it has good ratings even though it was pitted against Ghost Writer. All these years in the industry, don't understand why my series are often aired during these timeslots to fight battles. If I hope to get an award then will have to wait for a miracle to happen. To be able to get into top 5, I’m already very happy. My only wish is that Mak Bao can get an award.”

Steven Ma and Kenneth Ma Learned Peking Opera, and Received Praises for it.
《紫禁惊雷》热拍 马浚伟马国明学京剧获称赞

Steven practices his Cantonese opera singing regularly, so although there was pressure he was not overly flustered. But to poor Kenneth, Peking Opera was all Greek to him. Seeing his furrowed brow as he sang, it brought home that this bowl of instant noodles was truly not easy to ingest. But, regardless, the assignment must be accomplished; so under the expectant and watchful eyes of the whole videocamera crew, the two Mas belted out the song: one sang as Guan Gong*, the other, Zhao Zi Long*. These two brothers put into practice the idiom of “live together, die together”. (TN: float or sink together in the same boat) When the director yelled “roll”, they immediately opened up their mouths and began to sing no stop. Who could have thought that their singing was delivered with both clear diction and precise intonation? One take and their scene passed muster. The Peking Opera teacher and the whole camera crew broke into instant applause to show their approval. Thus a pair of “smart horses” (Ma) successfully passed the hurdle; they were so elated they whooped with exuberance!
The Peking Opera teacher praised the two Mas: “Peking Opera is a national treasure, and you both got the hang of it just like that. Very smart ya! You two are also a pair of national treasures!”
Steven enjoys Cantonese Opera, but after this stint with Peking Opera, Steven feels that it is not only pleasant to his ears but that it is also suitable for him to perform on stage; hence, it kindled an interest in him to learn Peking Opera himself. He says: “I intend to learn Peking Opera from the Peking Opera teacher. When I'm proficient, it will be another artistic skill. When performing on stage, it will provide an alternative choice.”

Note: No wonder Steven loves being in Qing Dynasty, it's like he were from that era. In fact, Steven has said that the late Qing is among his most favorite Chinese history era.

忽然一週800期]樂易玲調離無綫 志雲一統天下
Although Stephen Chan has been charged with bribery by the ICAC, but due to the embattled TVB’s woes that include its impasse with the Big Four over royalties, the impact of laissez-faire television licensing next year, and its diminishing series sales in overseas market, 6th Aunt (Mona Fong), in the interest of the company, has decided to take the risk of reinstating the lawsuit entangled Stephen Chan to his post for salvation. Stephen Chan not only returned with much grandeur but supposedly with his power increased, too. Early next year, his nemesis, Director of Human and Production Resources, Virginia Lok, will be transferred to Shaw as the person in charge of film production development. And as such, Mr. Chan will henceforth reign supreme; no wonder he was in such high spirit on the night of the anniversary gala.
Some legal professionals considered 6th Aunt’s decision to let Stephen resume work to be risky. Attorney Leung and Attorney Qin believed that TVB’s image will be further damaged if Mr. Chan is later convicted of his charges. The reason behind 6th Aunt's risky move, besides needing Stephen for deliverance, is because of TVB’s imminent political change of weather!

Fala Chen Confides her Concerns to Steven Ma
陳法拉向馬仔訴心事
2010/11/20

Steven says: “Once “Thunder” started filming, the schedules are really tight. The breaks in between are not enough. Also, every scene is a fight scene; arms, legs and waist are all hurting. Now I truly understand how it feels to be covered all over with cuts and bruises. But hearing that a series will be out soon, I feel very happy. So no matter how exhausting it gets, I can bear it.” When pointed out that the new series will follow “GMG” in a golden timeslot, Steven expresses that he is not overly concern about the airing timeslot. “Experience shows me that so long it is a good series, it will receive support from the audience, regardless when it’s aired.”
Real Ability
Fala Chen, who is also filming the same promo video, candidly reveals that this was her first female lead role since entering the television industry, and for that she feels very excited. “I love to partner with Ah Gor (Elder Brother / i.e. Steven). I got to know him after entering the industry. He loves me dearly. I confide in him my concerns, whereby he helps me see things from a different perspective. What’s more, he can keep a secret. Steven is a close friend whom I respect very much and trust.” She hopes “Links” will garner good ratings. And also wish Steven well in his bid to win the tv king award in this year anniversary award ceremony. “I’ve high hopes for Ah Gor. He has real ability. The best thing is that we both win an award through Ghost Writer.” Fala adds that if Steven wins the award, they will have a celebratory dinner. ‘Just so Ah Gor will be happy, and just so there will be a dinner, I wish Ma Zai all the best in winning the award.”
