Steven clarifies rumor on his return to tvb

Steven clarifies that as of now he can't confirm he will shoot a TVB series in May because of conflicting work schedules. He says returning to film a tvb series is just a matter of time, just that he can't confirm when since he has other work committments.

He denies the rumor that he had specifically picked Tavia as his partner in his return tvb series. When asked about the said rumor, Steven says if he returns to TVB he certainly will not specify who his female partner should be, just like he never did when he was in TVB. He believes chemistry can be sparked with just any partner. @2:54

Steven Ma,Shirley Yeung (楊思琦) and Jess Shum (沈卓盈) participated in May Fung (冯美基)'s "Cookaway Lady May" TVB cooking show yesterday 2/25/2013.

It is rumored that Steven Ma will return to shoot a TVB series but Steven said he cannot confirm the collaboration as he will be shooting a mainland tv series starting March through June.  So until he signs the contract he cannot publicly announce any collaboration with TVB.

Meanwhile, he is assembling songs for his music album. He said: "Hopefully next month before the series starts shooting I can record three songs. The whole album will have 10 songs, mostly gospel songs.  Plan to release the album in June, and plug in late March."

Haiz, so now his series that should start during lunar New Year series is now  being pushed back to March? Is that why he can't film the May TVB series? 

And as to recording gospel songs, don't even know what to say to that.

Miss Chinese International Winners want to work with SM

Gloria said her interest in performing has heightened after this pageant and that she is a TVB fan.  When asked which artist she most likes to work with, she said: "I hope I can work with Steven Ma. 2012 Miss Chinese International, Kelly reveals that she has signed a management contract with TVB last week, so she is now officially a TVB managed artist.

Steven is not dubbed TVB International Beauty Queens Nanny for nothing. Guess there is less pressure co-starring with Steven than other siu sangs while getting experiences on the way to fadan status.

First, SM fans are less vocal than other siu sangs' fans against their idols' female partners, also, newbies don't have to worry about unbased romantic rumors with him.

Second, SM is very patient and gentlemanly to newbie female co-stars. After all, he has had years of experiences partnering his newbie-fadan co-stars.

Third, SM is dubbed by fans and baidu tvb netizens as TVB unpaid coach/garderner/nanny to his budding newbie fadans. So, female newbies TVB wants to promote usually get paired with Steven first on their way up the ladder to top fadan status while Steven's status remains in situ. Once fadans, they will go on to co-star with other siu sangs while Steven went on to groom other newbie fadans .

Fourth, Steven series are often used to promote his fellow female co-stars rather than him.  Steven is an actor, not an acting coach so to be fair to him, he should be paired with co-stars of his caliber and not be used by TVB to promote newbie to fadan. The last time he was paired with a big fadan was way back in 2003 with Charmaine Sheh and Maggie Cheung Ho Yee.

So, yeah, good choice picking Steven.  Cynicsm aside, Kelly may indeed be a SM fan, if so, she has good taste. But not sure about Gloria - maybe she heard good things about Steven from Linda Chung, since they are both from Vancouver.

Steven Ma recently invested a 6-digit figure into his younger sister, Fiona's tuition center, "i.study" Learning Center, so he is now a titular school principal.  Earlier, the center held a simple ribbon cutting grand opening  ceremony with Steven given the honor of cutting the ribbon.  The other investors along with Steven's sisters and their families were also on site for the ceremony.

Before his entertainment career, Steven worked as a textbooks salesman, whose work was highly regarded by his boss and his sales results among the top sales of the year. When asked if this (past job) invoked in him a complex? (tn: to the education field) Steven said: "My past involvements in the publishing field and in textbooks did have some connectivity. I've always believed that knowledge can change fate. I know my education level is not high so if I want to enrich my knowledge I must rely on ceaseless self-study such as in: Chinese cultural literature and history.  Also, my younger sister has years of private tutoring experiences, hence has built up quite a clientele. As older brother I must support her. (Would you also teach?) The center has already hired professional instructors but if an acting class is added I don't mind being a guest instructor."

Incidentally, Steven also sent his CNY best wishes to everybody: "Wishing everybody peace, good health and happiness! That Hong Kong's economy will get better and better, and that the quality of life will get higher and higher."



Today is Valentine's Day, so I asked him how he planned to spend it. Steven laughed and said: "Sorry, but I want to reserve some privacy. Anyway, in private and work, I'm very happy.  I wish everybody a very happy Valentine's Day."

Invited by both Costa Victoria Cruises and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Steven Ma was on board the cruise ship for several days (Jan 24th -28th). In his “Steven Ma Celebrity Cuisines” show, Steven and the ship’s chef, Chef Mirko cooked side by side two very different flavored pasta dishes and also concocted two very different Italian cocktail drinks. Steven later closed his show with singing. During this half hour show Steven interacted closely with the passengers.

When he boarded the ship, during his free time, Steven went to check out the galley and talk to the chef. He then cooked some dishes as a run-through prior to his show. Actually cooking will not faze Steven much since he cooks regularly and has had cooking experiences in his two seasons of Apprentice Chef. Sure enough on that day, Steven demonstrated his cooking skills when passengers  invited for a taste sampling unanimously chose Steven’s dish as their preferred dish.

Towards this, Steven said that since most of the passengers hailed from the mainland and Hong Kong, they would naturally have similar taste, and that Chef Mirko’s years of professional culinary experiences could not be denied.

When asked if his fee was considerable, Steven laughed and said: “In any case, am very happy with it. Very happy that it was the first time a cruise ship invited an artist for a show and on such a high standard cruise ship. I’m very grateful that the coordinator was very courteous, friendly and warm. I was even invited to stay for extra three days. Truly business mixed with pleasure. But I’m most happy that as an artist I could help Hong Kong Tourism Board promote Hong Kong tourism. Very meaningful.”

So, did anything memorable or any chance romantic encounter happen? Steven laughed and said: “The most memorable was being trailed closely by paparazzi (a kid) everywhere I went. Whether buying stuff or eating she/he was always at my side. Haha! That little kid was truly cute. It maybe that we met each other frequently on deck so felt familiar, plus there were lots of Hong Kong passengers so many knew me and were all very friendly. Like old friends chatting and snapping pictures.”
