Yesterday Steven Ma returned to TVB for the costume fitting of new series Property Protector (tentative title) along with Maggie Siu, Tavia Yeung, Evergreen Mak, Natalie Tong and the rest of the cast. Steven expressed he had already promised Catherine Tsang a year ago to participate in a series and plus this series is produced by Leung Choi Yuen, there will be even more chemistry.
Steven disclosed he'll be launching a new album at the end of June, and will be holding his first mini concert at the KITEC in July. He does not plan to invite any guest performers and the proceeds earned from the concert ticket sales will go to charity. "I've been singing for several years, but this is my first time holding a concert. I truly enjoy singing and will keep on singing." It was rumored there will be a new season of Apprentice Chef. Steven frankly expressed Catherine mentioned it when they were discussing the contract, but haven't gotten to the details yet. If time allows, he does have interest to be part of the new season, but the earliest is next year.
It was said Steven doesn't think Evergreen is qualified enough. Steven stressed he didn't make a face at Evergreen that showed disdain. They personally have a very good relationship and are very good friends. Evergreen also defended: "Crazy. We have a very good relationship. I will forever address him as '3rd brother', while addresses me as '2nd brother' (Their roles from Where the Legend Begins). Nobody can incite our relationship. I just laughed off the rumor when I heard it." He also expressed he feels happy having the opportunity to officially collaborate with his TVB Artistes Training class classmate, Maggie Siu.
Steven disclosed the initial plan was for him to come back and collaborate with Bobby Au-Yeung: "We were suppose to be in another modern series, but because of his health condition, they changed the plans and turned it into a pre-modern series."
Tavia Denies Relationship is in a State of Emergency
Tavia laughed and said in all of the series she collaborated with Steven in, they have never had a happy ending. This time, she hopes they'll have a happy ending. It was rumored Eliza Sam has intervened in her relationship with Him Law and now their 'sister-brother' romance is in a state of emergency? Tavia expressed: "Emergency? How so? That's nonsense. I understand the magazines don't have much to report lately, but I don't think 'capturing an affair' is a good wording to use." Tavia said she and Heung Heung are friends, the photos published on the magazine are just from the series. That day, the three of them were on the set, it was not "capturing an affair on the set" at all. The magazines came up with a story just by looking at the photos. Does Tavia have confidence in Him? Steven Ma Negotiating Contract Details

News: Steven Ma Won't Film Rape Scenes
Yesterday Steven Ma was at a radio station to promote his new song, "An Understanding" (心照). He said it has been ten years since he last released a music album but he still pays attention to the music industry. He said: "I look most favorably on Ivana Wong (王菀之) , Hins Cheung (張敬軒) and Khalil Fong (方大同)."
As to the rumors on Sonija Kwok's marital problems, Steven said that's not possible. He said: "She is happy. We keep in touch. Maybe she's just quietly taking care of her husband and child at home."
He revealed he will return in to TVB to film the series "Property Protector" 《守業者》 portraying an army doctor. When asked whether he is worried that his series may be overly 'salted'? (tn: rape scenes) Steven shook his head and said: "Don't mess with me. Heard that Wayne Lai will get sodomized. Messing with Wayne is enough."

News: Steven Ma to shoot a TVB series in May

Yesterday, Steven Ma was at various radio stations promoting his new album’s 1st plug entitled “心照”, which he personally composed and wrote. He revealed the hi fi (superior) quality (發燒碟) full album will be released in June. Of the 11 songs*, five are composed and written by him, while eight songs in the album are Christian songs. He will hold concerts in July and shoot a mainland tv series in September in Guangdong.
Earlier there were reports that Steven would shoot a TVB pre-modern series “Property Protector” (守業者) in May. Steven explained that although his contract with TVB was still under negotiation he most likely would sign a per series contract with them. (Ask TVB to increase the fee?) He said he is satisfied with his fee. What worries him most is having to re-adjust to TVB work hours.
"I’ve not shot a tvb series for a year and a half. In TVB there are 2 filming troupes per day vs one per day in mainland. I understand that because of venues/sites problems, Hong Kong needs to have two filming troupes per day. In the past the longest time I went without sleep was three and a half days. Now, I could maybe make do with one or two days without sleep."
However, he does not want special treatment at work so did not request any. Anyway, he feels that recently TVB has been more concerned of the artists rest hours. The reporter suggested to him to take the lead to talk to TVB about implementing the one filming troupe per day work schedule, thus improving his fellow actors' welfare and maybe even become a hero himself. At hearing this, Steven laughed aloud and said: "Easier said than done. It's a difficult position. Wanting to be a hero (英雄) instead unwittingly become a coward instead. (狗熊)**"
Steven said in the series he will work with Tavia Yeung, Maggie Shiu, and Evergreen Mak etc. They are all old collaborators, like a family, so working together should pose no problem. In his first ever TVB pre-modern series, Steven will portray a military officer and what's more, he does not have to shave his head.
He said: "All these years in TVB, I had never shot a pre-modern drama. I would like to do it. I like this era a lot but never had the chance to do it. I feel that I'm very suited to act in this period. Spotting a slick back hairstyle (egg tart hairstyle) is no problem."
Because of his hectic schedule, would he have time to prepare for his July concert? He smiled and said he had already apprised TVB of that. He hoped that before signing the contract he had all the schedules finalized by then. Fortunately, he does not have to shave his hair so won't have to worry of that affecting his concerts.

Steven Ma Promotes his new song on radio stations.
Steven Ma, who has not released music album for a long time, went to various radio stations (tn: CRHK, RTHK, Metroradio) to plug his new song "心照" of his hifi superior quality (发烧碟) upcoming album in June.
When asked if he will return to TVB? He did not deny the possibility, Steven says: "Presently, I don't know how to answer. In any case, until I actually signed the contract, I don't want to talk about it." Even though he has not disclosed his direction, he admits the possibility of his return to TVB is high, he says: "Whether for Catherine Tsang or for TVB, in any case they brought me up." It is rumoured that Steven Ma would be returning to TVB to film series, taking part in frequently collaborating producer Leung Choi Yuen's new series "Property Protector". It is said that this series originally starred Bobby Au Yeung; however, because Bobby's body hasn't fully recovered, he would be focusing on resting after completing the filming of "Always and Ever". Because of this, Leung Choi Yuen needs to find another male lead; Steven is one of the candidates.
Leung Choi Yuen said, "Steven has not signed the contract yet, so cannot confirm yet. Certainly, he is the candidate I have in mind. Also have Evergreen Mak, Tavia Yeung, Maggie Shiu, etc. The series will begin filming in mid-May. The background is pre-modern like the countryside series 'Plain Love'. Will go to Guangzhou to do location filming".
Because Bobby is unable to take part, Leung Choi Yuen has rewritten the story, changing from a modern series to a pre-modern series. He added, "Not changing roles or substituting. Using an entirely new script. This is an investigation series about a family murder case. The male lead is a soldier who returns to his native place. The family runs a silk business.
