TVB executive, Virginia Lok, Tsang Sing Ming (TVB's director of external affairs), Steven Ma, Moon Lau (劉佩玥)and Tammy Ou-Yeung (歐陽巧瑩) etc attended "Ta Kung Pao" 《大公報》112th anniversay celebration banquet held at HKCEC last night (Jun 23).  Hong Kong Chief Executive, Leung Chun-ying (梁振英), and the deputy director of the central government's liaison office in Hong Kong, Yang Jian were also among the esteemed newspaper's 500+ invited guests.

Steven divulge his 2nd half of the year work schedules. He says he is very grateful to friends for their show of support for his tentative movie scheduled for production at year end.  He says two artists have already verbally agreed to participate in his movie but until their contracts are finalized he won't divulge their names just yet.

June -- finishes up with his album promotion
July -- in mainland for an unrevealed project (not movie or tv series); company will officially announce the project in due time.
August - Malaysia concert - 3 nights; will be in mainland to film a movie.
December -- film his own movie (tentative) Two artists have verbally agreed to be in the cast

Let's brainstorm on what Steven's mysterious July project in mainland that takes up the whole month of July could be.

Can't believe TVB ET news gave Steven a lengthy 2:33 minute screen time. Woah! Lol! Interesting that VL made the first move to approach Steven for a group photo; very suspicious, don't u think?

News 2014-6-16 Steven Ma's "I'm Getting Married" mv

Recently when Steven Ma shot the mv for his Mandarin song , "I"m getting married", he invited his 'younger sister' Fala Chen to be his leading lady. This was their second time portraying a bride and groom couple so they had no problem getting into their respective roles. Because the mv was imbued with comedic elements, both the cast and crew had fun doing it and with lots of laughter at that. The mv, shot in a theatrical style, depicts the internal struggles of a groom-to-be on the eve of his wedding. On one hand, he looks forward to marriage bliss, on the other hand, the thought of marriage being a lifetime commitment gives him the jitters as he would have to readjust his present carefree lifestyle. Besides Fala, Steven also invited Lam King Kong (林敬剛), Wong Chak Fung (黃澤峰) and  Vincent Choi (蔡誌恩) as his "brothers".

Steven says: "One day when I get married I will certainly invite them three to be my groomsmen.  Ah Mui, Fala, will be seated at the family table."  In the mv, the groom-to-be performed a plethora of conflicting feelings, much like being torn between the devil and the angel.

Steven: Drink smoothie just as high; abstained from alcohol.Steven Ma is invited by KMB to attend its Father's Day event at  Mui Foo Bus Terminus today. Steven, who has recently created a new song entitled 'Father Bus' especially for his father, will go inside the promo bus to give away copies of his new cd as rewards to the passengers inside who will be riding the bus with their respective fathers. (tn: cds purchased by kmb)

During the interview Steven reveals that he has quit drinking for two months now. He says: "I've always enjoyed drinking but I'm not into excessive drinking. Because I started work early so I've built up a high tolerance for alcohol. I can hold my liquor which makes me drink even more. If I continued this I could die at anytime. Moreover, my own blood pressure is abnormal."  Steven says furthermore whenever he drinks beer after his gym workout he is likely to get a potbelly, thus wasting his all his exercise effort. That is another why he quits drinking. (Does he have an addiction?)  He says no. Sometimes when he met up with friend they would be having alcoholic drinks while he drank milkshake (smoothie) or fruit juice, but still having as much fun. "No alcohol, but still can be as high!"  He said taking care of one's health is also one's being filial to parents.

When queried on how he plans to celebrate Father's Day? He says that he has reserved a private room for his family to partake Kong-Nam (southern) cuisine. "Have also prepared various presents." (What kind?) He says he will give his father a model bus gift package related to his father's past bus route and a copy of his new cd. "Also will give him a big red packet." So his father can use the money to either buy stuff or deposit it into his savings account. He says: "My father is not into buying stuff. Anyway, father can live comfortably."  When asked if he will take his rumored girlfriend, Vivian, to have dinner with his father tonight? He says: "Don't want to talk about it. Whatever fate decrees."

Steven Ma asserts that only now does he truly know how to enjoy happiness; only now can he do whatever he wants to do. He has been in the industry for 20 years; only now is the period of happiness for him.

“I've been in the industry for 20 years, only now can I decide on what I actually want to do, and not because I had to make a living. Thus, I’m very happy now. For instance, like what series to film, if the character is a 100% goody-two shoes (guai guai jai), or someone so nice he's almost a saint, I’ll certainly reject the offer. Just within this year I guess I've declined ten or more this kind of character roles. Because it's time for Steven Ma at this juncture to change.”

Steven has once lived in darkness. Faced with a cancer mother and faced with a sluggish career, his chosen lifestyle at the time only composed of work and care of his mother, brooking no friends and personal time in between. When his mother passed away in 1999 Steven succumbed to depression, fortunately he was finally able to get past that insidious affliction and regroup himself.  After his mother’s passing, Steven and his sisters took good care of their father; the father whom from young they had inadvertently neglected.

“Towards my father we have this sense of guilt; it’s not that we love him less but that because my mother was chronically ill so our total energy was concentrated on her. My father knew and understood. I believe he did not blame us for it though in truth we did clearly neglect his feelings.”

As the Chinese saying goes, “men at age 40 blossom like flowers”, and at age 42 Steven Ma is right now in his prime. The career mind Steven, like a workaholic, has been working nonstop in recent years, and as yet remains unmarried.  Recently, he personally produced a mini movie entitled “Father Bus”《爸士》as a tribute to his father.  Actually all along Steven has this wish to get married and have children but unfortunately his relationship with long time (ex) girlfriend suffers successive separations and reconciliations, ever decisive in his career Steven is presently at a loss with his love life.

As a first time producer and scriptwriter, Steven’s mini movie “Father Bus” is both a tribute and a Father’s Day gift to his bus driver father. The movie premise is inspired by Steven’s own childhood environment and memories. Steven says: "The boy in the mv (Chun Jai) is me as child. I myself portrayed my father.”  Most people have fuzzy childhood memories but Steven’s childhood recollection is distinct, even down to the details!  He says: “I remember things that happened when young, like how in the mv my father slaps me when in real life he canned me with a rattan, and how the si-nai (neighbor) calls me an ill-bred; that actually happened too.” The actual event was during one mid-autumn festival when Steven was about five years old. In the incident, the neighbor’s child tossed his/her burned lantern into a trash can which Steven later picked up to play. When the neighbor saw that she scolded him for being an ill-bred with no manners and even scolded his mother who was there!

Yesterday,  Steven Ma, as the event ambassador, attended the launching ceremony event of  "Support go green; break the Guinness World Records" (堅持綠色信念 踏破世界紀錄) to cheer on the cycling participants. The funds raised in this charity event will be donated to the Gansu province to build underground water cisterns for the residents. Steven said he greatly supports today's event as a good cause. Moreover, he himself is acquainted with quite a few local athletes and he understands it is not easy being one, that's why he's here to cheer them on.

Steven said he is a competent cyclist, he said: "I've a collapsible bike, sometimes when I'm free I ride my bike along Tolo highway. But I'm a careful biker; never crashed my bike, only crashed the glass door." His door crashing, head bumping and tooth chipping incident happened last week in a badminton court at Panyu, Guangdong, when he was there to play badminton with a group of mainland and Hong Kong badminton friends. After the game, in his hurry to get off the sauna-like badminton court for the air-conditioned lounge he accidentally ran smack into the glass door, not realizing it was close.  He said: "Actually I had a chipped tooth since eight years old until age 20 when I finally had the tooth crowned but for some reason that tooth got busted repeatedly. It will be fixed next week."

At the event Steven was supposed to sing but decided not to.  He said: "I can't sing today because my two front teeth right now are only a temporary glued on with adhesive. I worry the teeth may come off if I sing. Also, there are some words I can't enunciate properly when I sing. Even when I talk there is some lisping. Luckily I'm not filming a series right now so that won't be affected." 

Because of this accident, Steven had to decline numerous interviews and advertisements. When asked if he is usually so careless?  He said: "Though outwardly I may look sharp, sometimes I'm actually quite careless. Both my eyes have been injured, my nose too, and now my mouth got busted. My whole face all got hurt one time or the other. Hopefully no more injury."
