1) Neglect + disillusionment – 6 years and
more of tvb management (namely Ms. Lok) indifference to his career
2) As his management agent, TVB did not do a good job managing his career.
3) TVB did not fulfill all of its part of their contract as in Steven releasing an album
4) TVB politics – he was disfavored and mistreated. see timeslot
5) The last straw and catalyst – Ms. Lok’s blithe
and indifferent rejection of the role offer for ‘Legend of the Yuan Empire
Founder’ brought the years of accumulated resentment and disillusion to a head.
To add insult to injury, Ms. Lok’s
reason being that per a standard clause in TVB artist contract, Steven was not
allowed to accept a mainland series that would not be aired on TVB station. However, to Steven’s chagrin, his tvb
colleagues seemed not bound by that standard tvb clause as they accepted
mainland series left and right.
Had no choice but
to leave? Is it because of him being suppressed by a certain person? "If you want me to answer you
with a “no”, I can’t do it! Company (TVB) has many talented people, no need for
you to especially do anything for me, but at least, be a little bit fairer!” When brought up the rumors that he
has never gotten along with Virginia Lok, he quipped: “Virginia Lok and me,
weak affinity! Don’t know why but we just can’t communicate. And after a while, the distance grew
such that some people can’t even remember that TVB is my management
agent."

times, why then did you insist on terminating your contract early?"

There were rumors that Steven Ma was in tears at an earlier dinner between TVB artists and management. It was understood that Steven did not shed tears for himself, but was worried over the future prospects of TVB. Steven confided to Norman Leung regarding the plight of the little-known state of TVB artists.
