Steven Ma talks about marriage - Foshan
Yesterday afternoon, Hong Kong tv popular stars, Myolie Hu and Steven Ma, graced one of Foshan commercial centers for its grand opening ceremony. (TN: Skipped Myolie’s news) Steven is Foshan’s old friend. Four five years ago, he visited Foshan and stayed for a week to teach little kids martial arts, and even performed in the ancestral (local) temple here. The memory of his stay is still fresh in Ma Sir’s (Steven) mind. “Foshan is a very warm and familiar place to me.”
Ma Sir’s schedules are already fully packed. Besides hosting a new tv program and reading series script(s), he will be publishing a new book soon. Everybody is curious as to what kind of book it is, and is surprised to learn that it is a cookbook! Ma Sir expresses that actually this book shares the recipes and diet tips of the food he has had since young, including the dishes' nutritious values to health. Their ingredients are all easily purchased and the cooking is simple. Him putting it this way makes Myolie, who is seated next to him, filled with anticipation: “I want to learn too!” Furthermore, the book will also include actual photos of Steven making the dish. Learning how to make dishes from a handsome guy would surely attract many female fans to follow.
As to this good man’s future marriage plans, it is surely a concern among his fans. Regarding this, Steven says he will definitely not follow the trend of getting married or hide his marriage. “I feel that marriage is a happy occasion. I will clang the cymbals and beat the gongs loudly to tell the whole world about it. ” Moreover, Ma Sir does not think marriage will clash with his career. Many married artistes still continue to act in series and sing, not much impact.

The night before, Steven Ma recorded the special edition of his 2nd season Apprentice Chef with Roseanne Lui & Evergreen Mak et al as his invited guests. (tn: also Elliot Ngok Wah, , Shallin Tse Ning, 鄭威濤 (sushi chef) 黃永幟 (chef)、 馮美基 (chef) . Steven reveals that the 13 episode program will air sometime in mid May, and that he will cook in every episode.
Steven has hosted Book of Words II and is now going to host a new cooking show, (this reporter) asked if he is planning to compete for a placement in the best variety show host category of tvb awards anniversary. He laughs and says: "Hopefully." (Plans to spread his ‘fishing net’ to catch a nomination for both tv king and best host awards?) He says: If can, that would be great. But I would prefer getting a tv king award first. Actually, I want to thank the company for giving me so many opportunities.
Recently many tvb siu sangs and fandans have fled to Mainland to advance their careers. To retain their artistes, TVB plans to lengthen their contracts. When asked when his contract expires, he says: "Next year."

While most artistes adamantly deny their love relationship as it may affect their popularity, Steven naively admitted his with Sonija because in his mind, acknowledging it when outted, is a show of respect to the relationship and to the gf. For that, his reputation suffered greatly as he was accused of using Sonija for self-publicity With my understanding of Steven’s character, I am positively certain that Steven’s acknowledgment (as he saw it) was pure; in his mind, they were dating at that time, despite the latter controversy of he said yes, she said no that came later. The tv show, Book of Words, hosted by Steven Ma would invite two artistes to participate in each episode. The questions focus mainly on China's history, geography, cultures, language and the like; the content is extensive. The show would also invite a Chinese Language professor to elucidate some allusions, and explain the origin and meaning of words as well as idioms; there's also the Chinese English proverbs parallel. BOW is not only educational but also entertaining, too. However, some artistes' grasp of Chinese language is really poor; they could not even answer simple questions or write the words, even when Steven has given ample tips, they still remained nonplussed or else came up with totally far out answers; really don't know whether to laugh or cry. (tn: funny at the same time embarrassing) Book of words, this kind of knowledge-based tv program often inadvertently made the participants embarrassed themselves. @HKChannel sina weibo: Last night Steven attended the grand opening (HK branch) of a renown (Ningbo) Chinese restaurant chain, 「文鼎壹號」and got to taste Zhejiang local specialties. Steven revealed that he will soon shoot the 2nd season of Apprentice Chef tv show. When the time comes, he will appraise and taste delicious food. Furthermore he has invited numerous artistes including Sonija Kwok, Fala Chen, and Tavia Yeung, as well as Cao Chung (Amy of Healing Hands 1) as guests. The show will premier in May.

Steven Ma accepted good friend, Cao Chung's invitation, and attended the restaurant's grand opening to show support. As to Cao Chung's new baby girl, he expressed he knew of it just recently. He said laughingly that he would invite her to be his guest in his Apprentice Chef tv show. He also said that he would give a jade medal to her baby: "The jade medal can stabilize (absorbs shock) and protect the baby to grow strong and tall! I myself still have my amulet from young." He also expressed his hope that Cao Chung will come back soonest to act in series. He said: "I collaborated with her decade's ago Have always felt that she was a good performer. Her eyes are big and can express inner feelings well."

4/26 18:28 While in the market shooting an outdoor scene for Apprentice Chef, a popo (old lady) wearing a warm smile and in a gentle voice said to me: "Ma Zai, will you take a picture with this popo?" I said of course! Just when I was about to ask a co-worker to snap our picture, a young person immediately, of his own initiation, said smilingly: "Let me take the picture for you!" Seems nothing unusual but I could feel Popo's social attitude and the young person's helpful spontaneity. This picture, I was truly happy to take!
到街市拍大廚2外景，一位婆婆帶著和藹笑容並用溫柔聲線跟我說：＂馬仔，可唔可以同婆婆影張相啊？＂我說當然可以！當我正想叫同事替我們拍時，一位路過的 年輕人立刻帶笑主動說：＂我幫你哋影啊＂。看似平凡事，但我感受到婆婆做人處世的態度和那年輕人主動幫人的熱心。這照片，我真的拍得很開心！
Steven makes the world a better place to be with his appreciation of the good in the people around him, and of his positive attitude. He takes the innocuous daily life happenings, and imbues them with meaning, constantly reminding himself and us not to take things for granted but to appreciate them for what they worth -- in this case, an old lady's warm smile and good manner; and a young man's helpful, initiative gesture. The world can be more beautiful when seen through appreciative eyes and felt with a big heart.

Sometimes I'm just amazed at myself as fan on how much Steven's 'mood' can also affect mine. Here I was feeling quite moody but upon reading his weibo entry below and seeing his happy smile and his bristling hair, my spirit got an immediate lift. Truly, things aren't always as black as we tend to paint them. Thanks, Steven! Not only does he have a positive attitude but he also possesses a kind personality. In his weibo prior to this one, he actually took time and energy to praise and encourage a newbie singer, 李悅君Erika, who also sang in the City Walk Dog Obedience Competition yesterday.

Lately has been very happy. Received lots of good news, and also lots of opportunities. Feel very thankful! Here's wishing everybody be happy everyday, good health and no worries!
But I've learned to take Steven's good news without too much expectations. He has been promising us good news for the longest time now, but we are still no wiser as to what that may be.

2011 Easter City Walk
Steven really loves dogs -- in the interview said he wish to earn enough money to buy a 3 story home out in the countryside so that he can own a big dog and have room for it to roam around.

4/21 19:34 Because my sugar level can suddenly plummet, I have to constantly remind myself to have with me food high in sugar content. Honestly, whenever my sugar level plummets, I will become Hulk like, and transformed into a human beast. Not kidding, Tsui Jie has seen it happened many times. Heehee! Just bought a lot from a supermarket, can last me a long time! Haha!

Steven said he got such a scolding from Catherine Tsang for refusing to strip down to his shorts because he was too embarrassed. So Catherine scolded him for being disobedient in losing such an opportunity to act. Haha!
Haha! And so a fool and his money are soon parted. Steven's newbie performance was already brilliant with nuances and subtlety - his self-satisfied smirks, suppressed joy, bashfulness, his urge to brag and hold back at the same, and of course, his consternation and his petulant pout at discovering he's being dubbed, are all very well done. Steven really does have an expressive and transparent face. And of course the look and mannerisms of a well-educated and refined rich man's son despite his actual humble background.

4/ 20 18:50Bought it, bought it! Finally owned my first bike in my life ! My Siu Lo Po (2nd wife), she's petite with fine figure, resilient, and can sit inside my Dai Lo Po (1st wife -his van). Next time will be so convenient going biking or wondering around snapping pictures! But Hillman and tsui/y/y (managers), don't worry, I'll be very careful. Also, I'm not ADHD, rest assured!

The B (baby) in my arms is called Hiko. He's my friends', Ah Fai and Yoko's B. He weighed 7-1/2 lbs at birth, and though only slightly more than a month's old, his weight and size are that of a half year old baby's. Definitely a 'giant B'. Also we all teased that he is a chubby B with his chin stuck to his chest. If giving him a bath must first separate the rolls of fat to wash in between them. haha! Anyway, Hiko, here's wishing you to quickly grow up to be big and strong, healthy and happy. And be a filial and good person when you grow up ya!

TVB fadans and siu sangs, lured by the money making capacity in Mainland, are leaving TVB nest in droves, inevitably causing tvb to feel the pinch from this unexpected exodus. Because of this TVB tries hard to retain all those fadans and siu sangs whose contracts are terminating soon. Among those benefiting from this present situation is Steven Ma.
Steven has been dubbed “General Luck”, and has worked in TVB for 18 years. Series led by him not only garnered good ratings but were also used as weapons to combat stiff competitions.
Last year, Ghost Writer, was pitted against World Cup, while this year aired in cannon fodder timeslots, both his series, Link to Temptation and 7 Days in Life, helped stabilized the ratings accordingly. This unfairness caused Steven to weibo his displeasure.
In view of this, TVB executives, to appease Ma’s heart and also to pave future contract renewal negotiation, arranged to have A Watchdog’s Tale and Ghost Writer broadcasted in Taiwan's TVBs station at 7 pm and in the 8 pm golden timeslot. At the same time, in Hong Kong, Steven’s Book of Words is broadcasted daily in the 10:30 pm golden timeslot.
The standard in the Book of Words is high, and Steven as Ma Sir has instantly rooted in the viewers’ hearts. Besides garnering high ratings, the feedback is positive, too. Because of his righteous image, many charity organizations invited him to be their ambassadors to galvanize publicity and promotion for them. Appearing as Guide Dog Caring Ambassador is among them.

But he agreed working in TVB is pretty arduous. He once experienced going without sleep for 56 hours straight. When asked if he protested to TVB? He said: “No, I have worked in TVB for 18 years, so I am used to it. I feel the hard work is worth it. When you are happy doing what you do, then hard work is not a problem. If not happy then the feelings are tough to bear. Now that there is a new owner, the future is unknown. But I hope there will be changes made.”
There are rumors of Mong Fong leaving TVB to pursue filming. Asked if Ms. Fong has invited him to make movies, Steven smiled and said he has little contact with filming, and that earlier on he encountered Ms. Fong at a concert, and that he will miss her if she truly leaves TVB.
